Some of the board members have let me know that they have received an email from someone advertising a product called Immune 26/Biochoice, that claims to help the immune system.
The person who sent the emails also posted on these boards. The posts were removed and the person in question banned from the boards.
If you receive an email from this person, please let me know (email - joanne@uklupus.co.uk), as I will be reporting him to his isp for spamming.
Thanks
Joanne

Hi,
My names Marge and this is my first time visiting this site. I saw this warning and had to say something. It seems somebody was sending emails about the immune26 product. That's too bad since they probably lost all credibility by doing that. I wanted to just say that I've been using this product since 4/01 with good results for my fibromyalgia. I actually came on this board to recommend it for Lupus since you share many of my symptoms. I think all autoimmune disorders can be helped by this product. I really encourage people to check
it out and read the clinical studies done.
Sincererly

Some of the same symptoms maybe, but they are not the same disease.
I know fibro can be excruciating but as far as I know there is no possible organ damage.
I have studied the Biochoice sites very carefully and have found no convincing studies that it is any help for anything, although I am not doubting that it has helped you.
May I ask if you have lupus ? And if so how it affects you ?
I notice you have posted about this product as a first time poster on another Lupus site
The nature of the information given, the language used and statements made are typical of quackery
See www.quackwatch .org to learn how to evaluate such products
It doesn't even claim to help Lupus or if that is maintained anywhere it is illegal to make such claims for a food supplement.
It is multi level marketing.
Our Lupus Skin site was spammed too by e-mailing participants. He was careful to avoid saying it would cure lupus skin, just saying it " had helped him" - with whatever.
It concerns me very much that products are being recommended for " Lupus" a multi organ /system disease. Not getting proper thorough diagnosis and then getting effective treatment could mean people developing life threatening complications.
Sincerely
Clare

At least you took the time to look at the product. Many people think I'm some kind of witch doctor or something. I completely understand your point of view. But, I pay little attention to others if they think that way of me since I know what's its done for me. I don't have Lupus, just fibro. I have compassion for all people with autoimmune diseases. I rarely visit internet sites because most people don't share my views on alt meds and rely solely on conventional, even with all the terrible side effects. Many think this is the only option they have. I haven't used reg meds since '99 and haven't felt better since being dx. But, I know Lupus is a different story. I wanted to share an alternative with other people that's really helped me and since many Lupus sufferers also have fibro, I wanted to share here. But, I know the product can and is helping many people with autoimmune diseases as it's helped me. I've personally seen it work for my dear friend w/crohn's disease. It's helped me tremendously with my arthritis as well.
I understand Lupus is more serious and affects the organs. It's nothing to be foolish about. But, as I mentioned, I've been using this for some time and have read just about everything there is to read about it. I thought it was total nonsense like you when I first read about it and wasn't convinced until I researched for about two months and listening to people and doctors testimony.
I think you'll find the more you read about it, the more sense it makes and the more credible it is. It's a completely safe product made of 100% egg and no other ingredients. Now, that really sounds like quackery I know, but if you read closely, it is really very simple in how it's made and what it is. The reason why this product is helping so many people I think is because it doesn't cure anything and doesn't claim to. The only claim it makes is balancing immune response. As you know, this is so important for people w/autoimmune. I'm not sure what information you read about, but I was impressed by the fact they even had independent double blind human clinical trials. You need to read a section called reprints and this has the full studies done. I really haven't seen too many supplements before w/these types of studies. I wouldn't think it's very easy to get places like the Harvard Medical school and Beth Israel Hospital to test your product. And the fact a company like DuPont made it and it took over twenty years to make and forty or fifty million dollars. I dont' think a company like that would put a product out after all that which was based on quackery, do you?
I've been researching alt meds for a long time now and haven't seen a product like this. There are so many products out there and a lot have no clinical evidence with them. Many simply don't do what they claim. Believe me, I've tried many.
But, people need options I think. I truly believe the Lord helps those who help themselves. I read and learn everything I can about other treatments. And it doesn't really matter to me if it's sold by a network marketing method. I'd rather have my money go to regular people like myself and not the #### pharmaceutical compnies and salespeople. Them and doctors are about the same in terms of being unethical. I can't stand doctors really because most treat symptoms and rarely do they try to treat causes. This product targets causes. I know I've only gotten better and better since starting on it last year.
But, products like this are always really slow to catch on since most people have seen so many different products, how do you know what to believe. There are a lot better web sites out there with have doctors opinions if you'd like them.
Sincerely,
marge

Could you explain exactly what " balancing the immune response " is supposed to mean ? Don't bother : i didn't drop off the tree yesterday.
Your response is typicla of a salesman whether you are are not and anyway to come and and boost " eggs' on the tailcoat of this spamming shows a total lack of sensitivity !
If it sounds like quackery, it is.

Hi,
How did I know you'd respond like that. That's why I don't visit these sites. I try to tell people about a product which I believe can help them, and get nothing but negative. I felt I needed to defend something I really believe in, so sorry for the long post. I wouldn't have responded like that if the previous person hadn't questioned my credibility. People are so close minded and relegated to their medications which are doing them harm. Sorry to say that, but a lot of them are. I know they did me. 'Balancing the immune response' doesn't sound possible I know. I'm pretty sure it's the first product to do this. The product brings the immune system back into balance. As I mentioned, there is lots of clinical information on the technology and product.

I am only too happy to have found a brilliant doctor and been brought to remission by the right combination of medications.
Everybody has a choice about the treatment they want : that's fine. And how they wish to spend their money.
There is a very real risk that by buying these products people could neglect to get the right check ups and could develop very serious life threatening illness. That is what we are talking about here.
By the way, your bringing "God " into things is also typical of quack talk, as if you had God on your side somehow .
That happens to be personally offensive to me.
A board is for discussing things so you have to expect some comment on posts.
Just one final thought or two . It is against the law to claim a food supplement can treat or cure a disease and if this was so wonderful don't you think they would do proper clinical trials for FDA approval and make a bomb out of it ?
I am sorry for offending you, but I think that making claims for the curative properties of EGGS is insulting and potentially harmful to those of us who suffer from lupus.
