When do you take your Plaquenil?

I take it a.m. and p.m. as close to the same time as I can every day. If I miss a dose, I feel it.

I take 400 at night. With food. Can make me sleepy. Never noticed if I missed a dose, even two...

I have been taking it for many years and have never had tummy upsets so I take it all at once in the morning nowadays. It's best to start it gradually though and spread the dose even taking every other day at first if 200 mgs & building up.

This is the second time around that I have been on it, and been on it for 2 years this time. I started on 400mg a day for six weeks, then went down to 200mg a day, taken first thing in the morning from then on. It did take 9 months to kick in.

I take 400mg in the morning, and have been on them about a yr now.At one time i thought thay were not doing any thing for me, until i tried to stop taking them then i relized just how ill i would be with out them. It took several months to kick in though,

Hi

I used to take plaquenil, and after some tweaking found that taking my 400mgs at night worked best for me.
Any other way made me feel sea-sick !

HI,
I take 400mgs in the evening after food. Not at a set time. I used to take 200ms twice a day but now have to take antacids first thing in the morning so I had to change. The Plaquenil still makes me feel sea sick (thanks Caro, I hadn't thought of that description, but it's spot on).
I take anti-nausea tablets three times a day now and it helps a bit.

Hi there, I take 200 mg daily at suppertime. I have been on it for about 5 years now, it has never bothered my tummy.

200 in the morning, 200 at nite. Not necessarily at exactly the same, although I try. Have missed doses, with no real problem. Started out slow, went to 600mg/day for four weeks and back to 400 for maintenance. I do feel less tired, less achy. On 5 mg pred as well, so not sure which is helping. I do have less confusion than before starting meds, but could be the baby aspirin, and hasn't totally gone away, just less. I have been on it for 3 months now. No real side effects, don't usually take it with any food. Just milk. Started out really careful as ibuprofen really messes with my stomach, but plaq doesnt' seem to.

Hi there.

I take mine twelve hours apart.. Morning and night...And it didin't take long for mine to kick in and work... Prior to taking plaquenil, my hands and knees were so swelled up... I could hardly walk up the stairs and I couldn't type or knit with my hands... Within one month I could do so much more. and within two I was pain free....To me this drug is a life savor as I live in a two story house and going up and down the stairs is difficult.

I take 200mg morning and evening with food. Stomach problems vary not sure if plaquenil is the problem.

One in the morning and one at night...I have been on it ten years solid...so far no side affects...While here I thought I would remind everyone...make sure you have regular eye check-ups when on this drug...

I just started taking plaquenil last Friday. I started taking 200mg once a day. Then I started today taking 400mg a day. I called my Rhuemy and asked if I should take it at the same time. She said that it didn't matter. So I toke both pills this morning with all of my other meds. I hope that it is okay! I take 200mg plaquenil only in the morning or noon. It depends on how I feel when I get up. If I am up every morning by 8 a.m. then I'll take it by 8:30 or 9http://www.thelupussite.com/public_html/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif0. If I am having a bad day I will only take it in the afternoon. Some mornings I feel nauseous and can't eat. I have to wait until I eat. I am supposed to take it twice a day but I stopped that a year ago. I have been on it for 2 1/2 yrs. Like someone else said I feel bad if I don't take it once a day. I can especially tell if I go out in the middle of the day, why I need it. It helps with sun sensitivity.
