chest and shoulder pain

I was doing so well!

I really felt better the last few weeks.

Last night I developed this pain my chest, shoulders, wrists and neck. I am not having a heart attack.
It hurts when I breathe in also. I don't have a cough.
I hurt so much I am taking Lortab and flexeril around the clock.

I was in the sun for a short while yesterday. Not even enough to get burned, I was in the shade most of the time. It was very hot though! Could that cause it?
The only reaction to the sun I have had is severe burns.

Last week my rheumy had me skip my metho. because of the TB exposure. The test was negative so I continued it this weekend.I feel worse since I took it! :sick:

Do you think it could be from the sun?
I am beginning to think maybe the metho makes me feel worse.

My new bath is not even helping this! :wacko:
It has been helping the joint pain.
This almost feels like muscle pain.
I am so sad that I feel this awful again! :(

Any ideas?

Sorry you feel so crappy. I dont know whether this will help any, but I went to see the duty dr last night because Ive been getting rib/chest/shoulder pain for a while and it was getting worse. She checked my lungs and found no wheezing or crackles, so decided that it was being caused by the myalgia. She believes that when I breathe in, it moves my ribs and causes pain that radiates into my lungs and creates the sharp pain I was experiencing.

Could be whats causing your probs but you should get checked out anyway. Hope you feel better soon.

Deb, I doubt the sun would have done this. You are going to have to contact the rheumatologist about this, something is not right.

I talked with my rheumy.
She says she is not sure what it is. :blink:
says maybe it is just pluerisy.
She told me to increase my predisone. :angry:

If I am not better tomorrow I am going to my GP. :cry:

Oh yea Terry, i have been on metho for 4-5 months.

Today my hips and legs are hurting very bad again. :sick:
I have a rash on my arm.

Sorry you are going through this right now!

Madscientist described a very similar experience that caused some of my chest pain - Myositis, where breathing stretches damaged muscle and causes alot of pain. YOu can sort of tell by pressing on the muscle and see if it hurts, also having your CK checked (it also checks your heart muscle too). They did heard noises and said its Pleuritis. Pericarditis can also cause sharp pain that radiates to shoulders & neck. But I'm very glad to hear that you are seeing your Rheumi and getting the help you need soon!

Sorry you are having such a rough time!

I hope the rheumy helps you...those chest pains can be so awful (strangely, my chest muscle/joint pain has improved since switching back to azathioprine from mtx).

I did go to the doc.
She put me on 30 mg. of prednisone.

So, it is 1:15 am and I am wide awake!!

I am sure I will be feeling better soon.

I was really upset at first for having to increase my dose again. After a long bath and a xanax I am beter. LOL! :wacko:
