Hello everyone,
I have a question for you...For the last month I have had this strange thrumming feeling in my legs at night...its almost like an electric shock but its NOT painful...my husband has informed me that I have been doing alot of jerking in my sleep as well...When it happens to me and im awake I have to keep my legs moving to try to help take my mind off of the discomfort of it...has anyone ever experienced this and what do you think is causing it? any suggestions on how to deal with it? get rid of it?
Thanks!
 Hi Donna
It sounds very much like restless leg syndrome - I know I get the jerking a lot in bed at night.
Check out http://www.rls.org/frames/home_frame.htm
it has some info on it.
Best wishes

Restless Leg Syndrome, that is definitely it and it has not played up on me for a LONG time. I am presuming the Plaquenil has helped with me, but I did have a bout a while ago, and of course I was flaring at the time.

Yep, I agree with the others, sounds like Restless Leg Syndrome. I have what my neurologist calls fasiculations of my legs/feet, or twitching, this goes on constantly, I can actually see the twitching in my feet and it bothers me more at night or when I'm off my feet. It's not the same as Restless Legs, and I take Klonopin at night, sometimes if it gets bad I have to take it during the day also, but it makes me sleepy. They do prescribe this drug for Restless Legs also. Although it is also used for seizures.
Check with your doctor if this keeps up.

Hi Donna
Restless legs...horrible things.
I can't remember what meds you are on, but I know that Calcium Channel Blockers can cause this/make it worse.
Mine comes and goes. Haven't sorted out why.
Take care

Hi Donna :)
By your description it sounds like a new symptom that I've noticed, but mine is painful. When I wake up in the mornings, both legs really ache...this has been really noticeable to me the last week or so. I was just recently diagnosed with SCLE and now I'm wondering if this is a symptom of it...I know that kind of sounds far fetch, but does anyone know? I take Calcium daily because I want to keep healty bones as I get older. But this symptom seems to affect my muscles in the legs, however, my knees hurt bad too along with it. At the moment, the pain will wake me up, but after I move around a bit, it seems to get better.

Yes, I have also had restless legs, and it's very annoying.
I don't seem to have it much lately. Maybe the plaquenil has helped. Take care. love gladm. :flowers:
