Hi Fellow Lupies,

I don't know if you saw my post under Social Security or not. It is saying that Social Security of USA is changing the rules about Immune Diseases(whether you get Soc. Sec. Disability or not). I talked to my lawyer today, he said they could very well take away that rule and not have any rules about immune diseases. I know it takes years now to get it and you have to prove you are very sick and cannot work. If you could spare a few minutes and just go to the other post and double click on the web site and e-mail your reasons why you think the rule should stay and why we need it desperately. You will see my reason on there under my real name Willene Denney. My code name is Pickles, my 19 year old cat's name. I have been waiting over a year to get disability as most of you know. If you are working now and don't think you need soc sec, that's great for you but we need to know it is there for us if we do need it down the road. I'm putting this in this topic because we are having to live with lupus everyday. If we can get social security when we can't work, that's even better because we paid in the system for so long.
Sorry this is so long but I want to make sure Social Security knows how we feel, that we are sick and can't work. If we could, we would be. As of right now, they have 23 responses and that's not enough to show them how bad this disease is.
Thank You so much,

gladm

Pickles,

I am in USA and I saw the post. I went to the site and read ALL of the info.
This is a normal routine with Social Security and it is not just Auto-Immune Diseases that are being reviewed. The rules have not been changed since 1994. While we as the public should certainly respond we would be better off getting our doctors to respond. The rule changes actually might help you qualify.

Thanks Ladies,

I also wrote my doctors and lawyer with the link. Thanks for replying, I know they are always updating the rules but I just want to make sure they don't do away with this one.

Have a Great Weekend
