Hello again to all my friends.
Since my dx and going on this cocktail of meds my rhuemy has prescribed for me, I have been weighing the pros and cons of some kind of medical alert jewelry. A necklace or bracelet or something. Has anybody tried this?

Good idea, bad idea, overkill? I am laughing at myself thinking of the lady in the commercial who calls the alert service to say she's fallen and can't get up. I am much more self-sufficient than that, and I'm determined not to let the dx rule my life. But all the same...

If anybody has personal experience with this, is there a company they'd reccomend? Maybe a good research site or two?

Thanks in advance for any feedback guys. It is so great to have someone to talk to about these things.

Hi
and...............what Clare said ;)

Only problem I can see is.............some of us might fall down and not get up with the weight of a medical bracelet which showed all our meds and medical history :o :D

Never tried one, and I agree with Lily, It would probably be too heavy.

I just keep a record of my medical history and a list of my meds with me in my purse. Easier to carry. :D

 I actually wear a medical alert bracelet. I got one off the internet, that has a little "secret agent" area, where the bracelet opens up and it has a water proof paper in there where you put your medical history and meds you are taking.

I think it's a great idea!!! You never know when you will need this! Every health care professional needs to know your history and medication list if anything ever happened to you. I am a nurse and I find these medical alerts VERY helpful. If something ever happened to you, and you had no family or anyone with you that had knowledge of your conditions, it is nice to have the alert!!!

God Bless and take care!

All I can say, with my chaninging meds frequently this idea is totally out and I would probably be allergic to the jewellery anyway.

Sheesh. I feel pretty silly.  Sorry everybody for posting about something for which there was already a pretty darn good thread, I'll try to look more carefully next time. Thanks for responding to mine anyway, read both the old one and mine and they're very informative.
