I get them all the time myself, I do not have a suggestion on how to get rid of them.

My kids make fun of me though, because it makes me dig in my nose and they think I am picking my nose...lol. ;)

I do use a saline nasal spray to help keep the environment moist and it helps me to keep irritation down somewhat.

Hope that helps a little. :flowers:

Time...they do go eventually, I have had them in the past for months at times. I use vaseline when they are bad, I have some myself at the moment too.

Saline spray is good, especially if they are getting a little infected. And if they aren't and your nose is just dry then Vaseline is good, it creates a barrier between them and irritants that find their way up your nose, it helps keep them moist, not something you'd want to do if there is any sign of infection though.

#$)(^&*!!!! awful things they are :o   I have heaps of them right now grrr!!

Yesterday, my rheumie said a good thing to do for nasal sores is to take a vitamine E capsule with the oil inside it and split it open, squeeze the oil onto a sterile Q-tip, and then roll the Q-tip gently all around inside your nostril, making sure to cover the sores. Repeat on a new sterile Q-tip for the other nostril.

I also find the Astelin nose spray, available by prescription in the USA, to be helpful in keeping things moist, which, in turn, helps my nose to not have sores, because it isn't as dry.

Hope this helps!!

Since I wrote the above about putting Vitamin E oil on a Q-tip, and rolling it around the sores in your nose, my current flare began, bringing with it a whole new boatload of mouth and nasal sores ... so I tried this Vitamin E treatment my rheumie had told me about, and I swear, nothing has ever worked as well or as fast, in all the years I've been getting nasal sores (even though I didn't know what they were from till more recently, when I was diagnosed last summer).

I just remembered that the lupus rheumie also said that using Vaseline was a BAD idea; something to do with its thickness enabling it to hold onto bacteria that we would normally not have in our nose for long. I don't totally remember her explanation, but I can certainly ask her again on my January 13th visit.

Glad and Lily, I'm wondering if you gals, or anyone else, tried the Vitamin E for your nose ulcers, and if so, how did it work for you all??

Take care, soft hugs, X O X O

Kaley, thanks for reminding me about the vitamin E cream, I've still yet to try it, but will. I have a nice crop of nasal sores at the moment, my daughter drove me to the beach after the sun went down and I plonked this tired pitiful body in the ocean. The salt water stung like crazy, but I figured it was helping and if I could do this more often then I'm sure those little horrors would disappear! I kept falling asleep on the way home and fevering, but gee it was worth it! I so miss the beach, grew up there, but if it means I go when the sun goes down (if I can get someone to take me) then it sure helps my mind, my joints (no weight on them, what bliss) and those pesky nasal sores.

I don't know how well this will work, but I have read that nasal sores can be due to Vitamin B deficiency. I have started taking it 6 weeks ago I'm waiting to see if it works coz i was getting horrid sores.Anything is worth a try. I'll let you know.

Hmmm. Let us know if that works for you, Val. Not to disappoint you, since we are all different, but I've been on a super complex formula of Vitamin B for a long time, as it helps with mood and depression, among many other things, and it hasn't seemed to prevent the appearance of nasal sores for me .... however, perhaps if I wasn't on it, I'd be getting five times as many!!! Who knows?? As I said, we are all different. Be sure to let us know how that works for you.

For the lucky folks in Canada, there is a cream called Secaris. A friend of mine from BC gave me a tube and it worked great. Unfortunately, we can't get it here in the US :(
