hi all

Though I'd share some good news for a change.

I'm 9 weeks pregnant. Had an early scan yesterday because of the miscarriage I had 3 months ago but saw the heartbeat and everything seems fine, so far.

Trying not to get too excited - as I know it can all change.

Going back for another scan in 3 weeks time.

I'll keep you posted.

Hi, Tracey! ;)
How wonderful, but scary, to know you hold a new life in your body. I think it's amazing that every human being can only develop inside another human being. Quite an awesome concept.

Congratulation!

Wow Tracey!

Congrats on everything!!!! You are one heck of a woman. Just trying again so soom after a miscarrage shows what a great Mom this lucky child will have. Isn't creating life a miracle? I think you are one awesome lady.

Keep us all posted! I'm a grandma wannabe, and I'm getting all excited for you already. Best of luck. And always follow your doctors orders, even if it is hard at times. The gift at the end is well worth any adjustments you have to make during this most magical time of your life. It's stressful even for normal women!!!

Big, big, huge hugs from Vermont USA,
Cath

Me again

Had a bad few days - started bleeding on Wednesday (I'm 12 weeks now)

Complete panic as I thought I was losing this baby.

Dr managed to find a heartbeat, and was put on bed rest for few days. Bleeding has now stopped and I have a scan booked for Tuesday.

Wish me luck.

Sorry to hear about your scary time. How are you today?
Tuesday is a long time away. Couldn't they do the scan earlier? If you can't get them to do it sooner, maybe your midwife could visit you at home over the wekend to listen to the baby for you. I wouldn't object if you were my 'patient' ( I'm a midwife in the UK).
I just don't think it is fair to leave you stressed and unsupported for so long.

GOOD LUCK :luck:

from my experience of multiple miscarriages is that cramps are more dangerous than bleeding !

i am so pleased to hear the bleeding has stopped, my doctor once told me that bed rest at this stage does not make a lot of difference but he also said that at least it would mean that I had tried everything I could and would not blame myself whatever the outcome.

sending lots of positive vibes for a healthy pg for you both

Hi Tracey!

Congrats! You are really brave and I hope things go just fine for you!
See, since now everything is just great, isnt it!
I want to tell you not to worry so much and try not to be afraid.
My mom used to say: dont try to solve the problems before they appear!

But of course easier said than done... I should follow my own words at leats once in a while :D
I am the biggest funker in the world!

Take care and give updates!

Hugs,
Ruta

Saw Antenatel Consultant yesterday - very positive outcome.

She said if I take low dose steriods as soon as baby's born 5mg for 1 month, 4 mg for 2 weeks etc and gradually reduce I should be able to prevent having a flare after the birth. (no guarantee's)

this was fab news to me since I had a serious flare after my son was born and didn't get it under control until he was nearly 6 months old.

I'm feeling really positive now and can hopefully enjoy my pregnancy without worrying too much about how ill I might become.

Anyone else prevent a flare this way?

I'll keep you all updated.

Jolly good Tracey :) :) :)

I have read about this use of steroids to avoid post natal flare.

Wishing you continuing good luck - thanks for keeping in touch.

Update

I had my 20 week scan yesterday(I'm actually nearly 22 weeks).
All went well and everything looked normal.

Got a growth scan booked for 28 weeks and a consultant appointment after.

Feel much better too, the tiredness and sickenss has gone and so has the chest and kidney infections I developed a month or so ago - so at last I feel pretty good.

Nice to be able to share nice news.

Thanks

Update

Had another consultant appointment last week. Ended up having another scan but all was confirmed as well. This baby is growing normally (unlike my first baby who was tiny). They are really pleased with my progress and I don't need to go back for 6 weeks.

This is completely different to my first pregnancy, when I was scanned every 2 weeks and was in panic in case he'd stopped growing.

Just wish I could stop the heartburn - can't have everything!

Tracey,

Glad to hear the good news :D You are more than half way through, that is comforting to know! :hehe:

How has the pregnancy affected your lupus thus far?

Are you planning to bank your baby's umbilical cord blood for its' stem cells? Have you looked much into it?

Happy pregnancy! :flowers:

Me again

update on pregnancy - 33 weeks

Had Growth Scan few days agao - this baby is growing well and appears to be of average size - good news.

Me - I feel awful - got a chest and kidney infection - on Antibiotics again, got very low blood pressure - not dangerous but makes me feel even more tired that usual and my Lupus keeps flaring in my hands - so much so that for about 3 days out of every 10 I can't do anything.
Taking painkillers like smarties!

Never mind - I finish work next week - hurrah.

Hi all - been a while since I last left a message.

Life has changed somewhat.

I had a baby girl - Megan on the 29th July, She weighed in at at a heathly 6lb 12oz and is beautiful. Labour was a quick but painful 4 hours.

She is now 8 weeks old and over 11lb.

I'm a still very tired but she is now only waking once during the night. I'm still taking the low steriods too help prevent a flare. I have some aches and pains but nothing I can't cope with.

My little boy loves her too bits but doesn't think much to me at the moment. I'm sure things will settle down for him.

I can't believe how 2 pregnancies and babies can be so different.

Will chat again soon - sleep is much more inportant.

Tracey

A person could print that thread and put it in the babies' book, she might enjoy reading it when she is older! God Bless your family!! Nikki
