Does anyone know a good way to get through exams without the stress? I am a worrier and am so stressed about my GCSE exams in 3 weeks time. But, first, my orals are today and I'm so scared I'm going to fail as I don't particulary feel too well, and welsh isn't the best language to speak when you have a sore throat!
So if anyone has any tips, I'd be very grateful!
:nono:  :sorry:  :erm: :(

Hi, Hatty! ;)
Some advice from an 'old lady' who has multiple advanced degrees -
You have 3 weeks to practice progressive relaxation- That's long enough to be able to become relaxed almost immediately AT YOUR WILL.
A good exercise is to relax all your muscle groups one at a time starting at the top of your head and working downward. While telling each of these groups to relax, breathe slowly in and out and count to 5 for each inhale and another 5 for each exhale. Practice twice a day for 15 minutes the first week, then at bedtime after that. It's amazing how this helps! You'll also find that you fall asleep more quickly.
When you get the hang of it, you can tell your body to enter that state of relaxation AND IT WILL.
You might also want to get a good book on test-taking skills. You likely KNOW the information you'll be asked for. What is also good to know is what to expect and the best actions to take during the test. A teacher or school counsellor should be able to recommend such a book.
I wish you well on ALL your exams!

Remember to drink plenty of fluids and close your eyes and take a few deep breaths before you do anything hard. Remember how well you prepared and that you can only do your best. I am currently in grad school so I just finished my exams and just started a new semester. I hope that you do well. Studying at a reasonable pace resting and relaxing- try biofeedback it helps a lot are your best tools. Another good tool is remembering that these exams are not the end of the world, no matter what anyone else might think.

Helo Hattie
Angela has given excellent advice - these sorts of exercises should be taught in schools along with PE.
I am sure you have been well trained and I know you are bright and motivated so keeping your cool, focusing will be the best thing you can do. Make sure you limit your revision time get some relaxation and extra rest.
Also stay out of the mass hysteria that tends to surface pre exams. At this stage there's little that can be done, apart from looking at some known weaknesses in a very focussed fashion.
You might like to consider Bach Rescue Remedy ~ as far as I know it can do no harm but please check with your parents and run it past a doc. I don't know if it's just a placebo but whatever takes !

Well I managed to get an A* in my welsh oral....yay!
I had my first written exam yesterday and the time flew by! I am allowed to do them on computer, so I don't have o worry about my wrists aching too much and if i can't type I can have a scribe.....
Now I only have a month of exams to go! (until 30 June!)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We (me and my parents) went to see the deputy head at my school to see about me going back next year and how they can accommodate my needs...It looks promising except it looks like they want me to do 3 A Levels instead of 4, and do them over 3 years instead of 2.

A huge well done on your welsh oral, and good luck with the rest. Glad it looks promising for next year, you deserve every success. Oh and don't forget to plan some sort of celebration for when the exams are over, and to make sure that you enjoy the summer break.

I get my final results on 25 August, so until then I can panic and worry about how well I did (lol) or just relax and go out with my mates, hopefully!
