Hey everyone,

I am about to go crazy. I just recently lost my health insurance. I don't meet the medicaid standards. I have called everywhere trying to find assistance for bills. Apparently in my small town, there are no programs to help. The only one is to see 1 doctor who is not a rhuemy. That doesn't help me. I don't know what to do. There is also no assistance for drugs in this town. When I ask about anything that is state and government might have, all the employee's must have hit every branch in the apple tree while falling down. They don't know ***#@$$%^$#@!@. I am starting to get depressed because I feel like I am getting the run around. Sometimes I think it would be easier to quit my job. By the way, I live in the United States. Any suggestions. :tantrum: :hissy: :sorry: :nono:

Have you looked at county and state web pages? You could also start calling agencies in the phone book. Contact your pastor/priest/rabbi. At the top of this forum is a post pinned about how to get along until you can get SSDI. You might look at that.

A number of the drug companies are advertising that they will help those with no access to insurance, and no ability to pay for the meds.

Please let us know what you find. Good luck!! :luck: :flowers: :flowers:

Tamatha,

Did you see about Cobra for your prior job or is it too expensive.

The free meds for low income people is not a government program
go to http://www.needmeds.com and http://helpingpatients.org

For non-profit charitable programs check salvation army, catholic charities and jewish programs. Most of these don't require you to be of their religion to help you.
Salvation army may have a medical clinic if not in your town then in another town nearby. Also if you are a church, synagoge or temple going persons they may have a benevolence program.

Take care,
Karen

I gave some info about programs to Kittenpaws recently but can't recall which area I posted it in. Also in one of the Doctor referal ones I gave someone a huge list of places that can help. I don't recall where I found the info right now but it may help you if you could locate those posts. I hope that you can find a way to pay medical bills. You may want to look into your nearest University Medical Center for sliding scale fee programs they will have specialists and even pharmacies and will charge according to your income.
