Hi everyone, wasnt sure where I should put this but here goes anyways!!
As some of you from chat may know, was going to see the oncologist/heomatologist with my mum today to see if she infact had lymphoma like they suspected!
This is the story as it stands, he told her she has heomolytic aneamia, with a possibility of low grade lymphoma, but regardless the medication he has her mon would be the same... he put her on cyclophosamide 100mg a day..... but i came home and read up on it and from what i read it seems to be a monthly medication, so if anyone has been on it for any reason you may be able to tell me a little more aout it please!
Anyways I may of read it all wrong too, havent had much sleep and just got home so off to bed now so I can get a good nights sleep for my kiddies tomorrow.
Thanks to all for your prayers both my mum and i have appreciated it.
Night night
luv Tammy
(((((((((((Tammy)))))))))) I was wondering how things went.
Hemolytic anemia needs to be controlled and it can run with Lupus, it's an autoimmune thing - Xavtia has had it so she may be able to tell you more. I imagine that in itself could presdispose you to something like lymphoma hun because it attacks the red blood cells. Wishing wisdom for her doctors and lots and lots of rest for both of you.
Has she thought about going to Sydney to one of the major teaching hospitals - she really needs to be under the care of an Immunologist who is well versed in this sort of stuff and she deserves the very best of care. Of course I say that without knowing what sort of doc and who she is seeing now.
One step at a time thought hun - I've no personal experince with the cyclosporin but I will try and find out more.

(((((Tammy))))))) just wanted to send hugs for you and your Mum, make sure that you are taking good care of yourself, it's a difficult time for you. As I understand it cyclophosphamide is used in different ways, I am currently having three weekly infusions, as treatment for NPSLE, but it is also used to treat lymphomas in larger, more concentrated bursts, I think the difference is what they are using it to attack, as too how they use it. Take good care of yourselves, you are in my thoughts.
:hugbetter:
Take 2............... after sleeping most of the day
First of all huge hugs to both of you :hugbetter: When I read your post this morning I first thought you said Cyclosporin which is why I was going to check - I really needed that sleep - obviously!
It seems he's got her on the correct treatment and I'm very pleased that they are classing this as low grade and only a 'possibility'. That means its been discovered early and at the best possible stage hun. So hopefully this treatment will do the trick for her. The cyclo should help both problems.
You know as always you have our full support and that we care about both of you very much! I've never met your Mum but I'm guessing she must be a very special person as you are :hugbetter: . I'm glad I met you Tam and anytime you need to talk then pick up the phone - don't hesitate :flowers:
Sending gentle hugs and I have everything crossed that you both can get plenty of rest and support each other through this. It's an incredibly stressful situation and you need to stock up on spoons to deal with it. Take care Tam, you and your Mum are in my thoughts ((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))

I went thru this nearly 2 years with my hubby - he too was tested for lymphoma (luckily they got it wrong) so i can understand how worried you are hun.
Take good care of yourself and thinking of you both XXX JO XXX

Tam,
I'm sorry I am so late responding. I don't make it to this forum very often lately.
It does sound like the right treatment and catching it early is always good.
You asked about it being a monthly medication. When it is given via IV it is often given every 3 or 4 weeks. But when it is in pill form it is taken more often. I don't know whether it is daily or weekly. If you are concerned call the doctor and double check.
Love,
Karen

[SIZE=14]UPDATE[SIZE=14]
[SIZE=1]My mum went to the oncologist/heamatoligist chap on friday and he was very happy..... mums results have improved about 20% which was much more then he had anticipated. Her Spleen which was abnormally large and curled round her stomoach like a sausgae has shrunk considerably as well which was a good thing. He was very bedazzled by the size of her spleen, but it is shrinking so good stuff
She goes back in 4 weeks and I'm just praying things keep getting better!..... She is still getting nausious from the chlorophosomide or whatever, but this news is just enough to lift her spirits and she said I can handle the nausia if it's working. She left in good spirits anyways and Im really pleased

:hugbetter: Tammy I pray for your mom, and I hope she gets well soon. Not to be harsh, but if you don't look after yourself, unstess abit, and get rest. You won't able to help your mom. You need some laughs and some rest, to carry on. Take care of yourself. Jude. :shake:
