Hi everyone, I am new here. I was diagnosed as a suspected SLE on March 2004 because my ANA, DNA were positive, red blood cell and white blood cell ware lower. But my symptom was not obvious. By the time I was easy to get tired, lower fever. I have been treated as SLE. My fever is gone, but the other lab data hasn't been improved so far, I want to have a second opinion. Do you know any best rheumatologist in Los Angeles? I have HMO insurance. Thanks a lot in advance.

Adele,
The best rheumatologist in Los Angeles is Dr. Daniel Wallace, he is considered one of the best in the world. However he does not take HMO insurance. He take ppo, medicare, and not sure what else. If you want to double check, as that may have changed, his office number is 310-652-0920. He is my doc and I feel I am getting top notch treatment.
The other place to go is UCLA or USC. I think USC has even more lupus qualified rheumatologists than UCLA but I could be wrong. Just make sure to find out what doctor to ask for, otherwise you may get a rheumy that is not a lupus specialist.
Take care,
Karen

Hi Karen,
Thank you for your reply. I checked some previous message, some other people also introduced Dr. Daniel Wallace. I checked his office, they only accept PPO insurance. It is still good to know he is the best doctor. My working place also provide PPO plan, but we can only make changes once a year. When it becomes necessary, I will change to PPO.
I will check UCLA and USC later. Thanks a again for your information.

I go to a rheumatologist in los angeles. Her name is Dr. Lilian Szydlo and she is at Cedars Sinai. She accepts HMO and I've been going to her for a couple of years and I think she's fantastic. Her number is 310-385-3298
