Hi,
I went to my rheumatologist today and got two diagnosis. She said that I definitely have fibromyalgia(which I know nothing about) and possible Lupus. I have several of the symptoms for Lupus plus a positive ANA Direct. She ordered more blood work (6 tubes) and wants me to come back as soon as she gets the results.
I guess I am relieved in a way since I now have a partial diagnosis. I wasn't expecting the fibromyalgia though. She said that Lupus and Fibromyalgia sometimes go hand in hand.
WEll, now I'm off to go find information about fibromyalgia.
Take care everyone.
Mary Ann

I'm sorry to hear of your dx. (diagnosis)! But, u will get a lot of support here. Many of us do have Fibro. along w/ our Lupus.
She did do the pressure points test, right?
I'm glad u may be getting somewhere, though w/ more answers possibly soon, regarding the poss. Lupus.

Mary Ann,
It sounds like your doctor is being thorough and is on top of things. Fibromyalgia can cover other lupus symptoms because often times your body aches all over. I have lupus and fibro (and some other stuff) and once my fibro was controlled it was easier for my rheumy and for me to explain where I was hurting. I think it is like 30% of lupus patients have fibro, it could be higher as that data isfrom 5 years ago.
What medication did she start you on for the fibro?
Let us know how things go.
Take care,
Karen

Thank you for the website about fibro. Yes, my doctor did do the pressure point tests. I almost jumped off the table at some points. She started me on Ultram for pain. I haven't picked it up yet so I don't know how well it works. I am glad that I found her and she is being thorough. I feel totally confident in her too. She seems like a really nice doctor. She took the time to listen to me even when I repeated myself, because I couldn't remember what I told her. I also brought pictures of my face when it is really red and that helped her some.
Thanks for all the information and support that goes on here. This is a great place to come when you are scared and need some encouragement.
