Hi kind people :)

I've been going to the eye clinic for my suspected Sjogren's and also visual problems and eye pain. There is apparently no eye disease or actual sight problems causing my discomfort (other than the dryness) so the assumption at the moment is that my pain etc is caused by the FMS/ME, something which the eye docs seem to know nothing about.

ANYHOW, the eye doc has referred me to an Orthoptist for eye exercises. He said we might as well be sure that we've tried everything. I didn't know such a practitioner existed until then. The appointment is going to be 40 minutes long and I'm quite nervous as my eyes are as exercise intolerant as the rest of my body. I was wondering if anyone can share their experiences so I have an idea of what to expect.

Thanks

Sorry, just found this which helps a bit, though I'd still like to hear any experiences.

starrgazer,

When I had eye exercises the doctor had no fancy name.
I went thru a 30 week series in High school as I had lazy eyes, the goal being to keep me out of glasses. A few years later I needed a 12 week brush up series and have had no problems since then.

It has probably changed a lot from the late 70's to more electronic equipment instead of the manual stuff I had. I was slowly built up in the period of time I could hold certan images with out having to look away. I was also given cards to work on at home so I could train my eyes how to cross themselves. Then there were other machines that I would be looking into that would "pull" the image as I was looking forcing my eyes to cross. I don't remember much else as it has been 27 years since I last had eye exercises.

Take care,
Karen
