Hello everyone,

I know so many of you have tried the self-tanners. I am looking for one that works well and doesn't look "fake" and orange. I am also looking for one that doesn't smell. So many of them have that terrible smell.

If you can give me an idea of some good ones out there, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Janice

I've responded before to other posts with my favorite and only tanner. I use Coppertone Endless Summer in the lighter shade. I don't use their facial brand for my face. I use the body tanner everywhere and it has worked well for me for years with no fake look or icky smell.

I must add that I am very sensitive to most lotions.

I don't use it in the 2 weeks before a rheumy visit, however, because it can mask the strange colorings we lupies get on our faces.

Otherwise I use it about every 10 days to 2 weeks and it evens out the splotchy tones that look so awful!

Angela :flowers:

I know there are some products that are made specifically for faces and bodies separately . Also I know that sometimes when I am taking prednisone, I have noticed that the self tanners leave a very specific chemical smell om my skin when dry so I think they may react with certain meds that we take.

There are a number of them on the market that are reallly very good. Some of the best one are the ones that actually go on brown so that you can see where you are puttin it so you can apply it evenly. Especially for faces, you can really even out your face tone. Find one that most closely matches your natural skin tone and natural tan.

Good luck and take good care.

I use Piz Buin quick dry moose, it's the least smelly one I could find!!!! and doesn't go streaky either

Hello All,
I have always been a sunbathing nut. B) I don?t feel good if I don?t have a tan. Now that I have DLE that pretty much puts an end to the sun for me. I have tried most of the self-tanners. I now have found one that I think is great.? Jergens Natural Glow? :wiggle: it is wonderful! Try it I think you like it too. No streaks no orange color and no bad smell.
Happy Tanning,
LaLa

Please, please remember that fake tan does not protect at all so all the usual precautions need to be taken. I would like to know how the fake tan is affected by the application of sun blocks, both appearance and durability :)

I also wonder how it goes on badly affected very sensitive facial skin. It's hard to imagine that application could be even on for example scaley skin or if advisable on broken skin.

I am going to try it on my legs although mostly I wear pants in the summer, it would be nice not to have to think about stockings to hide these unsightly stumps

Cheers

Clare

In my way younger days  I liked to lay out in the sun, Now i apply sunscreen like moisturizers. But there are times esp, now summertime, when i would like some color. I just feel like i look healthier (look what society does :sigh: ) with a bit of color. I have tried bronzing face powders, they look great until I have a hotflash then its overwith. . I found a product while therapy shopping, on tv, I was watching Home Shopping Network (HSN)or www.hsn.com, I had seen the product advertised last summer and then this past spring, they had a "special price" :hehe:, on it so i figured let me try it. The product is called Tantowel it is a self tan towelette, ( like a wet wipe). The color is to each their own, each individual gets the right color for them. Then in a few hours you have a bit of color, you can repeat it the same day if you want more color. I have found it to be the best yet, I have had no streaking. I have a very sensitive nose, and this is very ,very minimal if any. I was also afraid because i have sensitive skin. I really like it and when i apply it, Tantowel, really lifts my spirits
----I feel like a commercial  ----

**Please remember to always use your sunscreen. This is only my expirience with tantowel. Hope yours will work out just as well.
