Today was my follow up appt with my rheumy. She dx with me Lupus, she thinks my GI probs are caused by the Lupus since it's obvious it's not Celiac related and changed my meds around.
She is taking me off Plaquenil, which I have been on for over a year with little improvement, it mainly helped with the fatigue but I couldn't tell a difference with joint pain. She now wants me to take Imuran and is hopeful it will help with my GI problems and my joint pain. She is going to monitor me with blood work every 2 weeks for 6 weeks to check my CBC, liver and kidney's. If that doesn't work she will try Metho. I am just so happy that she is listening to me and very aggressive with my treatment!
Just wanted to let you guys know....... the wait is finally over..... I have a name to put with these crazy, unpredictable, annoying symptoms!
((((((((((((Stacie)))))))))) :hugbetter: :flowers:
Well thank goodness :D :P What a torrid time you've had of it ((((((Stacie)))))and your GI probs were way over the top for Celiac and you did everything you possibly could to try and help them to no avail.
Well you've certainly had a full gammut of diagnosis like many of us,but it seemed all along they knew where they were headed and so did you btw! I'm sorry, but also glad it's confirmed now finally because they can work out a med regime that will suit you.
I do hope the Imuran works for you, my fingers toes and everything else are crossed. What dose has she started you on - sometimes it's best to start low and work your way up which is what my doc is currently doing with it.
 :D :P

:hello: Hiya Lily! thank you for the hugs!
It has been a long road, of course not as long as some others here on the board! I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to find a good doctor, one that will listen to you and offer some relief, they ARE out there you just have to keep looking!
She started me out on 50mg. She wants me to continue the Plaq for a couple of weeks (to finish out my bottle) since it is at least helping with the fatigue and give the Imuran time to get in my system a little.

stacie ,,large hugs for you
you have been thou so much, finally you are able to get proper treatment
sorry it has to be lupus, but now you can start feeling better with the meds

wishing you the best
your friend

Hi Stacie,
I like her already :D It's a good starting dose and it can take 3 months to reach full effect - so far my bloods have been ok, no adverse effects so I'm optimistic. My doc will alter my dosage according to how things are between appointments.
And yes :woohoo: a good doctor makes the world of difference no one can argue that around here ;)

Hi Stacie! I'm so happy that everything is finalized. You must be so relieved to finally have an answer. It sounds like your doc is a good one and that she is on top of things.
I hope that the Imuran helps you and that you will start to feel better once things get going.
Hugs and take good care- Chris :flowers:
Stacie - Would you mind telling me who your Doctor is? Looks like I'll be moving BACK to North Georgia (USA) and I didn't have a good Doctor there. Glad things are finally happening for you in the treatment of your Lupus.
Thanks!

Hi Stacie,
So sorry you have this disease but very glad that you finally know what is causing your problems! I know how good that relief can feel. And I also agree that having a good doctor makes all of the difference.
Imuran worked great for me for several years and I too have a lot of GI problems so I hope it starts working for you too soon.
take care,
Anisah
