hi everyone, uggh i have this rash on my face that i thought was acne.. from going down on the prednisone it looks horrible i dont even want to go out or do anything. i bought this cover-up from clinique, the only one that seemed to be light enough for my skin was 01 pure ivory clarifying makeup.. it seems pretty thick but it still doesnt cover up very well, plus i have really dry skin so it just goes flaky by the middle of the day
does anyone have any suggestions of a good makeup that will cover up well..
I was looking into this one called bare minerals but I don?t know how a powder would cover up.. ? plus might be too drying for my skin considering it?s a powder ..
Any ideas would be wholly appreciated !!
Thanks !!
luv

Chantal,
Hey. I have used Clinique before n it was ok, but also wasn't covering me enough also. & I tried a few different types of theirs. Although my mom has been using their products for years, n it looks real nice on her. Gives that smooth look on her, that i had/have been trying to have for years.
But, i was wondering if the person at the Clinique counter helped u pick it out. There are certain 1's- just as u had picked for your skin tone- for the type of skin, ie. oily, dry, oily n dry, etc.
So, there would be one's to work w/ dry skin.
But, I have used in the past, & have been using for a while now is MAC. Again, The people at the store should help u pick out the right 1 for your skin tone n type. But, MAC covers Very well- & it's not thick.
U can put even more on n it won't look thick. U can use the cover up & the powder n it looks nice. I have scars from being on Pred. & this has been the closest make-up to cover them well. So, i am happy w/ it. & it's about the same amt. of money as the Clinique. So, the MAC is actually giving me some of that smoother look that I've been wanting so long; n see all these women that look like their face is so smooth, n whatnot. So, I would give that a try!
Bare Minerals I have heard a lot about, n i believe i've used a little of their stuff, but don't quite remember. But, I have heard many use it, n Love it.
I was going to look at their stuff again, esp. since i have a coupon. :P
But, I do like the MAC. & there are others on here that use that too, n really like it.
Hope that helped a bit, take care,
Alicia :coffee:

Hi Chantal!
I can definitely sympathize...I've had really bad facial scarring and pitting. Here's a link to one of the coverups I sometimes use. It's a little thick, but I if I mix it with suncreen, it goes on easier. Then I set it with powder and use a damp sponge to finish.

Hope this helps.

I'm new to all this and Lupus, having being recently diagnosed.
My skin and face go blotchy in the sun.
For face cream i use Nivea Visage, its also tinted and comes in light medium & dark shades and available at most large supermarkets/chemists. For a lighter tone add it to a little aqueous cream or Johnsons moisturizing lotion. The coverage is better and more natural looking and hides the 'pink glow' underneath.
An alternative is ... Johnsons Holiday Skin (fake tan!!!) add a little to your usual moisturiser now and then. Works wonders ;)

Hello all I have been diagnosed a couple of weeks ago. I have the skin version. I use the bare essentuals make up I thought it would be to dry also but it was absoultely fabulous. My husband cant even see the scars, or so he says. I purchased it on qvc and they had a full money back guarntee. It is expensive so the money back is good. Really give it a try.
Good Luck,
Lisa

Hi Chantal,
I have really bad malar rash that nothing would cover up. I met a cosmotoligist through my sister who herself suffered from lupus, she recommeded a cover up that is a blessing for me. Elizabeth Arden flawless finish sponge on cream make up.This goes on smooth and covers extemely well stays on till you take it off. I hope this works for you. It costs about 30.00 but lasts a long time very well worth it.

Hi, I tried Clinic and couldn't use it. I tried Bare Minerals and I love it. I have alwas have have sensitive skin and now with meds it's ultra sensitive. BM covers great and it is so light feeliing and the send you a DVD to show you how to apply. The best part it last longer than liquid and the american cancer society recomends it because of the sunscreen. Go try it for yourself. You have nothing to loose. Best of luck.
