I have been diagnosed with Lupas & Fibromyalgia for about a year now. But ut seems there are a lot of symptoms the doctors don't tell you about. I get the usual aches and pains, restless legs, brain fog which drives me mad.

Has anyone had a dry throat and coughing all the time. Also I have mucus in the back fo my throat, which I have to keep coughing up. Not very nice and very embarassing if you out somewhere.

For the past week I have been feeling as if I am drunk and light headed.

Wish these doctors would give you all the possible syptoms. Sometimes feel as if I am going mad.

Does anyone know a source of possible symptoms that I can access.

Hi,

Doctors don't usually give out all the possible symptoms because with autoimmune diseases there are so many different problems which can be unique to that peron or could be totally seperate from an autoimmune diseases. For example you may just have a bad sinus infection. What I do is get copies of my labs-look them up on the computer to see what something might be so I can talk to the doctor with some knowlege. I never self diagose myself.

I also make a list of things to talk to doctor about.

I have allergies and what you just dicribed could be just that. Or many other things.

On this web site and many others you can do a lot ofself education.

I am not making lite about your comment-agree with you that doctors do not always tell us what we should know.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hey Jean,

It can be very difficult, as Elaine mentioned we can all be different w/ this illness & can go through differ. things. But, there are lists of symptoms, possible symptoms. But, remember just b/c something is on a list does NOT mean u will get it.

At first I wqas thinking Sjorgren's when i saw dry throat. Is your mouth dry also? any other areas dry?

But, I don't know as much about Sjogren's & many others on here could give more info. about that, if that's the case- there are many on here that do have that. It is an illness that many times can come w/ Lupus- secondary.

But, being w/ the mucus- I would tell your doc. & have it checked, it could be something completely differ. Does your chest feel congested at all? tightness? etc. any other sx.s (symptoms)?

For a short list of sx.s u can go to the Not Dxed. Yet Forum- & at the top pinned is Criteria to help dx. Lupus- at the top of that post are a list of poss. symptoms.

Also, at the front of this site there is lots of info. & would be good to read up on- here's the link to the front, specifically to the Lupus Symptoms page-
http://www.uklupus.co.uk/lsymp.html
Also, on the LFA site - www.lupus.org (http://www.Lupus.org)

Remember as I said, these are possible Symptoms- it's NOT saying U will get all these!
But, it is good to inform yourself of the illness as much as u can! Knowledge can be a very powerful.

Also, if u have q's u could also ask your doc.- a good doc. should answer them if they can.

I hope u find out what is going on> Oh, do u have any pain upon breathing- taking a deep breath, or feel any gurgling in your chest or lungs?

I hope u feel better. & take care,
Alicia :coffee:

Jean,

Do you feel like you are going to gag when the mucus is stuck in your throat? I have that problem but not all the time. I am supposed to be scheduling an appt with my GI doctor to discuss this problem with him. It may be that your swallowing muscles are not working properly. I have another friend who has had a similar problem in the past.

Take care,
Karen

Some medications can cause side effects such as dry throat. You may want to look at the pamplet that normally comes with a perscription to see if any of yours does this.

But coughing stuff up and a lite headed feeling could be signs of other things as well. May be a good idea to see your doctor to get it checked out. If it is noraml at least you will know and if it is something that needs treatment you can get it started.
