Got Plaquenil Rx - What should I expect ?

Having recently been diagnosed with Lupus and RA, my rheum handed me Plaquenil today. He wants me to start on 1/2 of the daily 250 mg dosage. I am extremely sensitve to most medication so he is doing this causiously. We will eventually increase but for now he wants to see how I do initially. I have a senstive tummy ... has anyone had problems in this area?

I am 5'2" and weigh 108 ... I have lost six pounds in the last two months. Concerned that I might lose more weigh as it is listed as a possible side effect ... has anyone had this experience?

Any and all plaquenil info would be most appreciated! :hehe:

Hi Amy,

Plaq can be very rough on the GI tract. I too have a lot of GI problems and when my rheumy decided to put me on Plaq she started me off slowly too, 1/2 tab every other day then working my way up to 2 tabs a day and I had NO problems at all :) (thank goodness).

I hope starting off slowly works for you and that you don't have any problems. :flowers:
