My wife went to our GP today her first visit since being turned down on SSD. He opened her folder and read a sheet and mentioned to her about the SSD reeval and being turned down.
He let her know he did not agree and it went against his recomendations that he made.
He said sometimes we try to do things right and it just messes us up in the long run.
We were both very suprised by this since we did not know that SSD notified them of the determination as well.
It shows that they have more information then we are sometimes aware of.

Hi
I would take that is good news. It will definitly help with the appeals process.
You and your wife should not have to be going through this.
Best of luck.

Hi, rwb!
It's great that you have a caring doctor who is interested not only in your wife's physical health, but also in her daily living needs. As the others said, it will help you in the appeals process.
I wish you well as you continue with the next steps.
Best personal regards,
Angela :flowers:

I know just from expierence if you have tour doctor backing you in the process of getting dissability it does help. For me it took a whole year before getting it. That is only because i am young to them to be trying to get sss. I did get a lawyer and the doctors help and got it. I am only 44 years old and unfortuanately because of lack of eduacation i was able to get it. For me it has helped my health a great deal. I am not having as much fatigue or as much trouble with Arhtritis. I just want to say hang in there I know it is not easy but it will all work out I am sure. Good luck

I agree it should help. We want to talk to her Rheumi as well and hope he feels the same on it.
She is also very young since she is only 40 but she has had alot in the 40 years.
two heart attacks, congestive failure, internal bleeding, vasculitis, arthritis both Rheumatoid and Osteo, Lupus, Raynauds, Decreased Energy levels, deformed fingers and toes due to Arth., low strength in hands and legs, decreased wieght levels. And they found all of this in the SSD eval and said it was not enough.
It all seems to hinge on the doctor they have do an eval on it. What he says seems to go and I do not understand how he could have said she can work.
She is alot better since not working then she was but that does not mean she is well. They say she has a chance for improvment but that works both ways with Lupus. She also has a chance for a set back.
Regaurdless I refuse to let her work because I will not see it happen again like it did the last time. A person coming home from work so wore out all they can do is go to bed to get rested for the next day is no way to live a life.
And regaurdless of what SS says there is no such thing as "Sedentary Work "
With the possible exception of the SS Office. They don't seem to rush or get in a hurry for much of anything.

rwb,
Please appeal the decision. I actually was awarded SSDI even though their doc indicated I could work. I believe it was my rheumy's detailed daily functional abbility questionaire that helped me clinch it. Double check with her doctors and see if they had to fill out one. My rheumy asked me to tell him what my average day is like so that the form would a be more accurate appraisal.
When I talked to one of my old clients, a law firm that does ssdi work, my contact their said there is no point in hiring a lawyer till the 2nd denial. In otherwords go thru this first appeal on your own.
With organ involvement she fits the ssdi classification for disability based on her lupus. Look thru the pinned posts at the top and they can help you find things on the soc sec site.
Good luck,
Karen
wow I just read your post.
I haven't been in the forums for several weeks. It is nice your doctor told you that. I have been waiting on my ssd for almost 2 years and am in my 3rd appeal waiting on a trail date. My doctor has never told me that ssd has informed him of anything! (Needless to say that my heart dropped when I read your post.)
I do know that from what I have been told it is very rare for you to get approved the first or second time even. So hang in there and appeal. I am sure it sounds like eventually you should hopefully get approved.
Goodluck & take care,
J

Hey,
If she hasn't had the Functional Capacity Evaluation test, please get the doctor to do that, preferably the rheumy. It questions how long she can sit, stand, walk, lift, climb stairs, carry things, etc before she needs to rest. Can she sit for 20 minutes before resting or 5 minutes before taking a break? Something to that effect. I think mine helped me cause it practically said I can't do much without resting a few minutes in between. I can't work a 8 hour day anymore, there is no way I could get up at 5 oclock in the morning and drive 30 miles one way like I did for 30 years.
Again, I wish you and your wife the BEST OF LUCK!!! Keep trying..It took me over 2 years and 2 denials to get it. I got mine with an OTR(On The Record) decision where the judge looks at it and says you're approved before you get in there to see him.
You're a great hubby to take such good care of her.
