Hi,

I am new to this board. I am 15 weeks pregnant and just found out that my anti-cardiolipin antibodies are mildly elevated positively. I am going to see a maternal fetal specialist next week. I am now on Heparin and have been on a baby aspirin as well as plaquenil. I have had SLE for 21 years. I am 27 and have a three year old and had a miscarriage at 8 weeks in December. My first pregnancy was great with no problems whatsoever so I am freaking out about this one. If anyone has been through this please let me know how it was with you and what was the outcome. I just don't know what to expect at this point.

Thanks,

mamwhite :)

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I also have tested positive for anti-cardiolipin antibodies however, my doctors didn't feel the need to put me on heparin. I am currently taking baby aspirin daily. I am 22 weeks pregnant and so far, the only thing that is being affected is my platelets and I am currently on 50mg of Prednisone daily. The baby is doing fine and has no complications so far. Good luck to you in your pregnancy!

Congratulations!! I just thought I'd let you know that I have a 3yr old healthy boy which I carried to 37wks even though I have SLE and APS. Like you I was medicated with heprin and asprin etc, and as long as you are seeing your specialists reguarly I'm sure all will go well for you. As with any pregnancy listen to what your body is telling you and rest when you need to, try not to get too stressed by all the bloods and testing being done, I know how hard that is but I remember spending 8mths in a complete panic and forgot to actually enjoy the process of pregnancy. You never know, hopefully now your passed that first trimester things will start getting a bit easier for you as tends to be the case most of the time. I wish you all the best for you and your family. :flowers:
