Hi everyone,
I just read an another good article at Arthritis Daily about a new study touting the benefits of green tea for lupus. Here is the link for those who don't have it:

Cindy,
It is interesting that the EGCG in Green tea might have an affect on Sjogrens. and the Dentist doing the study thinks the same element may help with the skin aspects of lupus. But that this is all very preliminary at this point in time.
I find it very important to be very specific so that others who come here don't get their hopes up too much. It takes years for a new "treatment" to actually be used with patients outside research studies.
I imagine that the element itself will have to be developed to have significant impact. That drinking Green Tea alone won't give a person enought EGCG to make a significant difference.
It is great that there is another possibility that needs to be studied and researched at length but down the road might be helpful. I was not able to find green tea connected to lupus anywhere else on the on the web. so this must be a very new development.
Take care,
Karen
