I know that lupus can cause inflammation of the joints, etc. I can tell for the most part when I get out of bed after doing some stretch exercises recommended by a friend in PT if I am going to have a good day or a bad day. However, I would like to know if anyone has experienced the following problem. When I walk around be it morning, noon or night, I notice I had a tendency to throw my right hip and leg out. Also, it feels as if I take another step that my leg and hip is not going to hold me up and snap like a twig. There is obvious pain involved throbbing, etc and sometimes cold sensations. My daughter thinks my knee is swollen, I personally cannot tell. It grinds and pops constantly where as my left knee and hip are fine. At night my daughter and my husband help me again with stretch exercises but this doesn't always help. There are times that when I sit, if I can tuck my right leg underneath me or almost inthe fetal position if feels better, but for the most part I have to straighten it out as much as possible and use pillows for props. Does anyone else have these problems? Is it associated with the lupus or is there another problem brewing here? I get so frustrated I could cry. It just plain hurts! I cannot enjoy quiet nights at home with the kids playing, etc. I take plaq and that helps to a certain extent. Last night it took 3 Lortabs to even allow me to sleep. Sorry this is long and whiney, but I hate calling the doctor for every little thing, but I do need some answers. Please help!

hi

My son was diagnosed tow years ago and he suffers from the same sympthoms. It may be do to your bone density. Lupus sufferers have to check that especially if your are taking meds that can affect it and if you are female. check with your rheumie doctor. Its very important. The minute my son complains I let the rhuemie know. They usually order a bone density test to see if its the arthritis or the bone itself is becoming weak.
It gets really bad for him when the weather is rainy days. Let your Rhuemie know about your pain. Don't ever take it for granted. Especially when it comes to Lupus. The best defense is prevention and early detection of symthoms that can get worse. We learned that the hard way.

Hope you feel better. :D hang in there.

Hey crit,

I hate to be the bearer of something you don't want to hear, but call the doc! I also hate to keep calling my doc for every little thing, but better safe than sorry. Have you been on or are you on prednisone? As you know it can affect your joints/bones, especially that hip joint.

Hugs and let us know how you are doing.

okay.....update! I went to work the day I posted and called the doc at 8am and he called HE called me back (love a doc that calls back and not do everything thru the nurse). He wanted to see me at 4pm, so I stayed at work :nurse: and tried to get things finished up, because I knew what was prob going to happen. All but crawled into his office and he gave me a DepoMedrol shot and sent me home on bedrest. Slept the rest of Tuesday evening and night. Wednesday day felt like I was improving, but by Wednesday night realized I was wrong :tantrum: . Pain came back and was begging my husband to get out the black and decker  On top of all of that, developed a couple of sores in my mouth, my tongue feels like it is on fire. Water even hurts  to drink. The itching is so bad the attarax cannot keep up. I just layed in bed and  Got up and was just having an absolute :tantrum: :hissy: . God love my husband as he just let me vent and then :hugbetter: . Took me for a short car ride to get me some more smokes, yeah I know not good for me....no lectures please. Got back on this sites chat room and started feeling better.... :) Thank you everyone! So, I remain down and am supposed to see him on Friday at 8am. If no better, he is talking hospitalization  . I do not subscribe to predinose use and neither does me doc, not unless it is the last resort. So anyway, i hope all has a good day and THANX for being there!!!!! :goodvibes:

Hi all, I know it's been a while since this post was opened but I've got to have a bone density scan, I've only had prednisilone during three pregnancies last one with treatment 12 years ago but have had and am currently having heparin too, which I've recently discovered to be bad for bones, my most of my life (now 41) hips have 'popped' and my knees audibly creaked and grind it's intense pain and I have to stick my bottom out whilst standing my daughter says I look like I'm about to lay n egg! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif I had a hip x-ray in Jan this year I'm hoping if there was anything to be seriously concerned about surely rheummy dept would have let me know ?Some of you I'm sure will recall I had a truly disastorous consultation with a new to me senior reg, who I'm certain was the grim reaper in disguise,
Trying to keep smiling tke care all
