hi, i have read ads in magazines for a product from Rit (they make dyes) called "rit sun guard". you apparently add it to the final rinse of your laundry to give your clothes a coating of sun screen type protection, it lasts a few washes. unfortunately it is not available yet in canada that i am aware of. have any of our friends from the U.S. tried it? did it work well? i thought it sounded like an excellent idea, but wanted some input before i order it from the net. have any canadians seen it in the stores? luv helenxx
Helen, I haven't heard of that, but I will check the local grocery stores. A friend of mine in Canada put me onto a line of Sunscreen Clothing. Their site is http://www.sunveil.com if you're interested. I have a couple of their 'jacket-types' that I wear without fail when outdoors. They breathe, and trust me, in the Houston area, it gets unbearably hot. You need a fabric that breathes.

Hi Helen,
I asked about this last week or so and got alot of very good info. I bought some Rit SunGuard at a local pharmacy. According to the Rit web site, it's sold in many places including grocery stores, dept stores. I bet you could get it on line. I haven't used it yet. But I will let you know how it goes. Hope this helps.

Hi, All! ;)
I discovered the RIT sun block product this year and I am SO glad to have found it! It lasts more than only a few washes. In fact, I've got it down to a science, I think! :P
I break out in itchy, itchy bumps with ANY sun exposure and I've found that my clothing that has been treated will keep me from getting bumps for 14 to 17 washes, so I now treat everything after a dozen washes just to be on the safe side.
I don't know if others will have the same experience. They could be more or less sensitive to the sun than I am.
I love the stuff! Wouldn't be caught without it! Highly recommended.
Best regards,
No-Itchy-Bumps-Angela :)

While I have not tried it yet I am going to as I suddenly have been more susceptible to the sun! I break out with a very itchy bumpy rash that last for weeks. I found a site that offers sun protection of 98%! Here is the link
www.coolibar.com. I plan to get some of there products as I live in Souithern California where it is always sunny! B)
I hope this helps
Blessings
