Hi everyone!
Sunday I had formed a painless lump on my forehead. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and she said she didn't know what it was but leave it a week and see if it disappears. I now have three. Though it would be believable that I could be sprouting horns...... I don't think this is the case. Someone told me that it was from prednisone. I couldn't find anything on the web about that side effect. Anyone have any insite on this?
Thanks ...
Apryl

Hi, there! ;)
That's a really interesting question. :o Keep in mind when reading my response that I am by no stretch of the imagination an expert on all the possible side effects of prednisone.
Even so, I've never heard of lumps on the head being among those things that pred can cause. I also believe that if it WAS a common known side effect that your GP would have been aware of it.
Another type of steroid, the kind that athletes misuse to increas muscle mass, CAN cause a thickening of the bones in the forehead. You may have noticed the effect in bodybuilders who have a facial appearance similar to early humans (read: cavemen) because of the thickening of their foreheads.
I think that the person who told you steroids could cause the lumps was very likely confusing corticosteroids such as prednisone with the type of male steroid hormones that increase muscle mass.
Just my opinion, and as I said, I'm not an expert on all the side effects of pred.
Best regards,

Hi Apryl
Not sure my lumps are the same sort as your lumps, as mine have grown over several years, but thought I'd share my story with you. Until quite recently, I had two painless lumps on my forehead. A few months ago I had the largest removed surgically. I was told it was an osteoid osteoma - basically an overgrowth of bone the way I understand it. The second lump is not so visible so I'm waiting to see if it grows more before taking action.
I also joke about 'growing horns' but sometimes it used to make me really fed up :(
I hope you find out soon what's causing yours and find a way to make them disappear as quickly as they came! ;)
