Can anyone tell me if they had an EMG? She said it would cause discomfort? Can you tell me for how long? I am going on vacation a week later,it won't cause problems for me will it?

I did, and it was uncomfortable...to be honest.. my mom just had one and she hated it too..It only bothered us while they were doing it, it didn't linger..

Helloos,
I had the EMG/Nerve conduction done about a month ago. I found it was not pleasant, but it was not horrible. It was not nearly as bad as I expected it would be. I think you will do ok. Uncomfortable, but not horrible.
You should have no problem after the test in doing anything. I didn't. My left deltoid was a little sore, similar to a tetnaus shot, only not half as much, so you should be ok.
Let us know how it goes.

Hi
I have had several. The first one was the worst because I was just nervous. The others were fine. No problems afterwards on any of them. Just relax. I would rather have an EMG than a shot of novacane from the dentist.
You will be fine.

Hi
I have had them done many times. Yes they really hurt me but I have a problem with my muscles so you may be different. Not a problem really but for about 2 days then was ok. Shouldn't keep you from being able to go on trip. I must also mention that the worst was when they did both of my legs. When they only did one side wasn't too bad.
Take care

Hi!
I have to ditto everyone else. I found that mine was uncomfortable during the test, but the very next day I felt like nothing happened. I think I was more nervous than anything else. I've had way more pain with my dental procedures. Just try to relax as best you can. They let my husband in with me to hold my hand and that helped ALOT! Good luck!
Smiles and Hugs,

I've had many EMGs over the years and I can tell you that how much pain you have DURING the procedure is a direct result of the SKILL or LACK of skill of the doctor performing the test. There is a wide range of levels of discomfort.
As for discomfort afterwards, it doesn't last long at all and it is so minimal that it doesn't interfere with activities you normally engage in.
Best regards,

Hello helloos :overhere:
I've also had several EMG's in arms, legs, and feet. To me the most discomfort I experienced was in bony locations like the feet :afraid: otherwise in fleshy locations like thighs and calves wasn't too bad. I also have had no prolonged effect from the procedure, so you should be fine for your trip.
I have one scheduled for tuesday on my left leg....I'll hold your hand if you hold mine :highfive:
Good luck :luck: ...let us know how you do
