Hello! I just wanted to update everyone that I was diagnosed with autoimmune thyroid disease. I've been treated since May but it was only recently discovered that it's of autoimmune origin (my antibodies are quite high I guess). I'll be going to an endocrinologist in August.
I am also pregnant again after three miscarriages since November. This pregnancy was entirely an accident (I had hoped to get my thyroid under control before trying again). I'm happy nevertheless and have an appt with a high risk OB at a reputable hospital (U of M hospital in Michigan). Things seem to be going okay so far (baby has a heartbeat!!).
I feel though that I still have some other things going on. I still have not been tested for APS which bothers me since I've had such a hx of miscarriages. I'm hoping the high risk OB will test for this.
I still am not able to handle being in the sun. Although I haven't broken out in any rashes this summer (other than a lot of petechiae and my dr won't test my platelets :erm: ) I feel very flu-like if I spend time outside.
I also get flare ups every two months (which is a nice switch from every three weeks!). I had hoped it was all thyroid and treatment would help but there are a lot of symptoms that my thyroid just doesn't explain.
I guess we'll see. I'm looking forward to seeing the specialists. I'm hoping they'll run more tests; maybe the search will officially come to an end at some point :) .
Love and Prayers, Kelly
