Chiquita,
With lupus there are not simple answers. If she has memory problems and they are related to lupus, her rheumatologist would refer her to a neurologist. The memory problems can come from cns/npsle lupus or APS. The first one is where lupus attacks the central nervous system and the 2nd one is a problem with the blood clotting (theres more) and can cause brain problems also.
I suggest that someone go with her to her next appointment with her rheumatologist and ask questions while she is there. The laws in the USA do not allow her doctor to talk to you about your sister unless she signed a waiver listing a family member to get unformation from the doctor.
There are medications that can help with cns and aps, along with all the other problems that we can get when we have lupus. I am not sure if I have given you the information you are looking for. If you have more specific concerns we will try and answer them from what we know or have learned about lupus.
Take care,
Karen

Hi Chiquita Welcome
I'm sorry to hear about your sister. Karen has given you good advise, I would get
your sister back to the doctor real quick. There is tons of info on this site which
should give you a good idea what your sister is going through and how others
manage with the same problems. Keep posting questions here and someone will
always be here to try and help or give some advise. Again Welcome to the site.

Hello
If your sister is having memory problems then it is a good idea to get her to a doctor and fairly quick.
It is also a good idea for someone to go with her because it may not be safe for someone with memeory problems to try and go alone.
It will also help you to understand just what is happening and what you can do.
Next is to get the family educated on Lupus so you are a little better prepared to handle it.
This site can help with this just by reading many of the posts as can many other sites or books.
One I have used alot and have ordered alot of information from is NIAMS.
They have information you can order and some you can download depending on how you prefer to use it and where you are at. I don't think they ship out of the US.
Other sites such as Mayo Clinic, Clevland Clinic, and most other large medical clinics all have information that may help, Lupus Foundation has information and a list of books that may be of help as well if you want to purchase a few and since they recommend it you can be fairly sure they information is accurate and as upto date as possible.
My wife has Lupus and I have had occasion to use all of these sites and sources at diferent times.
