Hi

I haven't posted on the boards for a while but still check posts, while this morning I noticed that someone had asked the question that was asked back in 2003.

I did a search and have posted a reply so that thread shows up now. It was orignally posted by Elaine.

I have been getting my 'prescriptions only' free for the past two years after it was deemed that I was steroid dependant.

My GP filled in a form FP92A got me to sign it then the GP practice sent it off for me.

My andrenal glands have been suppressed through long term use of prednisolone and it is unlikely that I will be able to stop taking the steroids and that is the only reason I get free prescriptions.

Having Lupus will not mean that you get free meds as it is not on the 1968 list that was compiled as a means of exempting chronically sick patients from prescription charges. Lupus was not put on this list. It is not means tested, well it wasn't for me, I can't work, I get Incapacity benefit and DLA but my husband works so couldn't get free medication till I learnt about the form.

Hope this helps anyone who is steroid dependant but not getting free prescriptions.
