ca state disability

i live in california and was on my job 8 years. i have been out of work since 12/04 and on 5/31/05 my work told me they were going to release me because they cannot extend my leave any longer. can anyone tell me isn't it illegal to fire someone on disability? i am still on state disability and have recently been denied for ssi. can anyone offer any info? it would be appreciated...... :)

I believe the law is 6 months. I was on calif state dis when I first came out of remission in January of 2003 and my employment was terminated in July of that year. Have you applied for ssdi? or only ssi?. In Calif they make you apply for both and when income is higher the ssi is denied but the ssdi application continues thru the bureacratic maze.

If you are in a financial bind there are many non-profit organizations that you can turn to, including the drug companies programs for free medicine for the un-insured.
