if some of you remember I contacted my children's schools asking them to support lupus for World lupus day back in May. All three schools are being supportive but I had even better news yesterday one of the schools rang me and told me they were making Lupus their adopted charity for the year and any money raised throughout the year will be for Lupus. I am so pleased with the outcome I am going to meet some of the Governors and parents in a few weeks and explain more so that they know what they are supporting. I just thought that I would share my good news with you all. B)

Hello All,

Does anyone know any info about any walks in Philadelphia? I hear of walks for everything else around here but never for Lupus. :wiggle:

Hi Amanda and others,

for information on local Lupus Walks in Canada, this is the toll free no. for Lupus Canada is: 1-800-661-1468

I scanned an informational poster and will try to paste it here. I don't know if it will work so I apologize in advance if it doesn't. The local number on the poster is a 519 area code (I live in London, Ontario).

I was given pledge forms and brochures, along with this poster.

Birdie,

You did a wonderful thing, thank you on behalf of us all! I hope I can get my daughter into something like that when she is older. Way to go!

take care,
Anisah

Hi birdie, it was good to see that your childrens schools are very supportive. My own daughter who is fifteen and in her last year at secondary school has hatched a plan to do a cake sale, they have talked to the head of year who has agreed to it and I have been asked to go in and explain wot lupus is. I find this a bit daunting to say the least. I dont want to frighten or confuse these teenagers so I will try to keep it simple. . I appreciate my daughters and her friends efforts and appreciate the school allowing them to go ahead and do it. Like someone said to me the other day, if only one person takes notice then perhaps talks to another person people will finally know more about lupus. Good Luck with everyones fund raising efforts. :highfive:

I am going to the local radio station on Friday with a fellow lupie and we are going to talk about lupus and our balloon race which is Saturday, we are aiming to sell 1000 tickets. So heres hoping for good weather in the UK on Saturday

You guys are really great! Good luck on your fund raising projects! I am from the Philippines and Ilike that idea. Is anybody from the Philippines willing to do it with me too? I have started organizing a lupus foundation in my country and its so difficult. We have medical practitioners (Nephrologist, Rheumatologists) who are willing to join but organizing is really difficult. the group though very small has started to give the less fortunate members medical assistance. But we cannot go far unless we organize, register our group and then ask for sponsorships from civic organizations and/or donations for fund raising projects. Can you also give us some ideas for fund raising activities aside from lupus walk and balloon raise? Also, please include mechanics or procedures on how to go about it. I like to help but finances are limited. Is there someone from my country who is willing to help me go about this?

Thanks :)

All 1000 of them. :P We are all pleased and walking around like proud peacocks and to boot raised over ?1000 after all expenses are taken out.
