Hi,
My 16 yr old daughter has an old dx of lupus and after moving several times new drs question that dx (some say they agree with it but that it is in a remission right now). We have lived in the Indy area for 2 years and I have had her to Riley's Children's Hospital but found it to be quite busy and did not have a great experience with the dr assigned to her so no longer go there. Have a new Rheumy but not too sure about him. So, would like to see if there are any suggestions for drs in the Indy area.
Thanks for any help offered.

Mollysmom,
Hi! I live about 1 1/2 hours north of Indy. I have not been officially diagnosed with Lupus but I do suffer from Lupus-like symptoms. I have found a wonderful doctor at Rheumatology Associates on Meridan. His name is Harry Staley, Wonderful staff and office...
Good luck,
Lu

Hi,
Thanks for the info, Lu. Just wondering how long you have been going to this dr. and how seriously he takes your symptoms. Great to get a suggestion and will be checking with my insurance for coverage.
Thanks again,
Sue :D

Hi Sue,
I've been seeing Dr. Staley for about a year now. When I first saw him he ran extensive blood tests that were specific to Lupus. All the results were negative, except for the positive ANA. He said he didn't suspect Lupus...about 3 months went by and I still wasn't feeling any better, hair loss, feeling run down. I asked for a trial of Plaquenil because I had done a lot of research and knew it's high rate of success. He said he didn't have a problem with it, in fact he agreed that possibly I had a mild case and this might improve it. I explained to him that I wasn't looking for a Lupus diagnosis, I just wanted to get better. I found him to be very open minded and not one of those Doctors who believe it's all in your head when labwork comes back fine.
I also know someone who sees Dr. Mary Jacobs at IU Med Center. I know many years ago she was rated one of the top in her field according to Indianapolis Monthly. She has always spoken very highly of her. The reason I opted for Dr. Staley was because it would have taken months to get into IU Med Center and I wanted to see someone ASAP.
Wishing your daughter good health, :flowers:
Lu
