I'm only 3 months along but already finding it very hard to sleep. There is just no such thing as a comfy position! I feel pretty good lately--in fact, almost like a "normal"--except that baby makes my back hurt horribly, and I think this is contributing to the problem. I also don't get much benefit out of what sleep I do get because I wake up hungry every 4 hours or so! (It drives my hubby nuts, especially since I am now eating all his dill pickles, which I did not like before I was pregnant. )

Does anybody have any suggestions about how to cope?

Hi Songbird
More than anything I just wanted to congratulate you on your upcoming arrival...I haven't done that yet.
Having never been pregnant I can't give you any personal advice...but I do know a friend of mine swore by one of those big full body pillows to cuddle up with...throw your leg over it...whatever works for you.
Hope you find relief!

Hi Songbird,

I don't have any suggestions about getting more sleep, but i did want to congratulate on being pregnant and feeling better. Your post gave me a smile today. I want to have kids too. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a21/shadowcaster29/baby.gif

Zara,
I am just hoping and praying baby comes out of this OK, watching everything I eat and drink, and trying not to get too attached or excited. I know the odds for us lupies, especially APS patients, are rough. But I have always wanted to be a mother.

Fingers and toes crossed that it happens for you, even if it isn't meant to be for me.

Hi. Congrats on your impending arrival. :flowers: I found having a number of standard pillows-like up to 5- more comfortable for me than a body pillow when I was expecting. I'm naturally a stomach sleeper and found this not possible with a bulging belly. So I would wedge/position all my pillows in all sort of manners  to get comfy enough to sleep. I looked like I was building quite a nest every night! :P but it worked. Take care and continued success!

Thanks Weedhopper!

I'm a stomach sleeper too. Will definitely have to try that.

Congratulations, Songbird!! When I was pregnant, I took the "Bradley Method" childbirth classes, and they encourage natural positions, relaxation, etc. I learned a position that looks sort of like running. A pillow between your knees, with both legs slightly bent,(like jogging), and the top leg forward some. The bottom shoulder is rolled back, along with the lower arm behind, and the top arm in front, both slightly bent in a "natural" position. It may be seem a little akward at first, but is truly relieves the pressure points and allows complete relaxation, and once you are used to it, is very comfortable. Also, once the abdomen is becoming heavy, it helps to put a pillow underneath it. Here is alink that may have more info, Pregnancy Info (http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/pregnancysleep/311.html) Hope that helps. God has blessed my with four kids, and I had all four in very different circumstances, from having an "old style" epidural, to having one on the bathroom floor at home(not on purpose! :o ). Hope everything goes beautifully for you and your baby!! :flowers:

Hi Songbird! Congrats on your pregnancy!
I have lupus and APS and had a very healthy and very big baby boy last Oct. He was born 3 weeks early and weighed 8lbs 2oz and 19 3/4" long. The docs were surprised he was so big!
Anyhow, I got a pregnancy pillow from babycenter.com. I forget the name but it was U shaped and was WONDERFUL. My hubby used to fight me for it!

Good luck! :D
