Hello everybody,

My name is Zuzana and I come from the Slovak republic. I haven't been diagnosed myself with this nasty illness. I'm trying desperetaly to get help for my cousin (22). She was diagnosed three years ago with systemic lupus erythematosus and she has her kidneys invloved. Recently she has been hospitalized again (presently she is in intensive care unit) and it appears that it attacked her lungs as well... Doctors are pretty confused here in Slovakia and we are desperate for any help. Three years ago we turned to alternative medicine and it did help, however, it became quite serious now and nothing appears to be helping.

I think that hospitals and doctors over in the UK are more advanced and I'm looking for a doctor to contact, who anybody of you could recommend that could help.

Thank you very much to all of you!!!
Zuzana

Zuzana

(I also have a friend name Zuzana from Slovak living here in Barcelona) :)

I am moving to London in a few weeks time and my doctor here gave me a few names of good doctors that he recommended in the UK. He called them Lupologists - meaning that they were especially good with this disease. I left the list at home, but will bring it tomorrow to write the names for you.

You could try the Department of rheumatolgy at the medical centre in Vienna. I can get their address if you want. They are one of the top centres in Europe and although they seem to specialise more in RA they also have a lot of patients with Lupus. I had kidney problems and got some advice from them that was very good, although I am not a patient there but have a contact through work. Good luck. It is a very scary time! If it is any help to you at the moment I am taking prednisolone and cellcept for my kidney problems and that seems to have worked well.

Dear Stephanie and Linda,

Thank you ever so much!!!!!

It is so kind of you, I'll be gratefull for these contacts and I will contact both, the London Lupologists as well as the centre in Vienna. I'll also pass the names of the two medicines on to my aunt.
She is a tiny little bit better, but still in a very serious condition. My god, it's heartbreaking. Once she gets better, I will also refer her to this site, because I think it is absolutely fantastic and you people are just great, so full of positive energy and supportive. I know that it is very important, to think positive and keep fighting, but it's hard...

I'm really grateful to you. I wish you well and have a very good weekend.
Best wishes,
sue :)
