Hi Everyone;

My name is Ken and my wife was diagnosed with Lupus in 1996. She had been doing pretty well with her treatments up until she was involved in a car accident. My question is would a car accident cause my wife to go into a flare? Also can anyone tell me were to get information about the relationship to trama and Lupus flares?

Thanks for your help:

Ken :D

welcome to the site Ken .

In my experience stress is a major factor in my flairing. Also Lupus has a mind of it's own and will flair when ever something different happens.

This is not a medical option at all but I have fibromyalgia and that can be caused by car accidents and is closly linked to lupus? It could be worth looking into.

I hope your wife feels some relieve soon, and she gets her flair under control and back to her old basically healthy self.

Sorry i dont really have many answers for you but it is great to see a husband taking the time to come on in and try to find some answers for your questions soon, I might just add that there are some wonderfully knowledgable around the site how can help you loads.

Ken,

The link below is to the main information page of this site. The specific page is general information about flares. You can do more specific searches within the main site. another site to go to would be the lupus foundation for whichever country you live in. Of course you could look at all the different lupus foundation sites.

http://www.uklupus.co.uk/prevent.html

I hope you tell you wife about our site. We can be of valuable support and encouragement in ways that our families never can.

Take care,
Karen

hello Ken
As others have told you stress is a big factor in flares.
Things like an acident acn cause a person alot of stress especially when they have a full plate already of things to deal with.

You do not say much other then that she was in an acident so i hope she is ok and will soon be past this flare.

When having a flare it is important that her doctors are aware of the fact and can run the proper tests and start treatment as soon as possible.

When something like an acident happens it can be very importanat that the person understands that you as the spouce are not upset with them and that the most importanat part is that they are ok.
This can help to releave alot of stress and worry that they may have.

Hi Ken!!!

YES YES YES....i used to think that you spelled lupus s-t-r-e-s-s or t-r-a-u-m-a , because both have thrown me in to major flares! Take good care of your wife..she needs a little pampering right now  Keep us posted! :flowers:
