Hi alex :D

I'm in Australia so the system may be slightly different in the UK. Here yes you can apply for 'misadventure' status when sitting assessment tasks and final exams if you are suffering a flare and have a recognised medical condition. Speak to your doctor and also teachers about your particular case they should be able to help you or at least point you in the right direction and advise you how to go about this.

If you are missing a lot of school due to your illness I would say that this would be enough cause for them to be more lenient.

Try not to worry I am sure you are doing the very best you can, I admire you, its hard enough living with this disease, let alone trying to study and attend school and all that goes with it.

Good luck and let us know how you get along with this, hopefully some others who have been in this position in the UK can give you more detailed information and help.

love

Hi Alex

I think you need to contact your school about this at once and get them to see what's possible at your examining board - 'Special Arrangements' seems to be the term used. This apparently needs to be applied for well in advance and will need some documentation

If something happens at the time of the exam itself, that seems to be called 'Special Consideration'

All the best Alex - it was nice chatting with you last night

Cheers

Clare

Hope you are keeping alright i haven't seen you for a while.

I agree with Clare - i would start enquiring about this now so that any arrangements can be made in advance.

Good luck :luck: with your course work and exams.

Take care - love and hugs :hugbetter: XxX jo XxX

You can get a doctors note if you are in a Lupus flare and are actually ill during an exam. i did my GCSEs in June this year. Also ask your examinations officer at your school for extra time.

It's called Special Circumstances...They can give the higher grade if you are borderlining or an extra few marks if you give the jist of what they wanted but didn't quite explain properly if you were ill during the exam. They also give this to kids who have had a recent berevement or are termanilly ill etc.

The school are allowed to give 25% extra time at their discretion. If you want to know anything else please PM me I'll be happy to help!

sorry i couldn't explain very well!

Am about to start my final exams in high school.
Firstly you must go to the school and discuss with them and they tell what you will need. In australia i can apply for misadventure for an exam which i could not attend because of sickness. this was a form which i filled out and my doctor also filled in parts. The examiners will give me an assessed mark.
Also i have in place for other exams a form filled in which i got from the school by myself and doctors and also a letter from my doctors explaining my condition. By filling this form i will be allowed extra time in my exam and also rest breaks if needed.
Sorry if this sounds like mixed up because it is hard to explain. - but firstly go to your school and find out your options.
good luck

I have taken some community college credits (US) online and have, in the past, gotten extensions on my test dates and class end dates due to flare... let us know how it goes for you! Hang in there!
