He's in New Mexico...so I dont know exactly what the situation is. But is there any hope?....help. I am so saaaddd for him! :(

hello will
Welcome. And may I say you are a truely loveing and caring person to take the time to check things out because of your cousin.

My wife has been hospitalized several times because of Lupus.
And she has been on a respirator as well because of it.

I would not even hazard a guess as to why your cousin is, it is best to wait and get the information from your family so that you have more information.
I can say this my wife is doing just fine now but she was very sick at the time.

Not sure what your religous status is but I will say that for those who believe there is alot of power in prayer and it wont hurt to pray for your cousin and ask for a speedy recovery.
We had many praying for us and we do feel that it helped.

So sorry to hear about this and many of us here will pray for all of you.

I was also hospitalized because of lupus. I was severely dehydrated and had acute renal failure. I was there for 9 days and by the fourth day, i started feeling like i was alive. I was in New Mexico too! Hope everythig is okay!

Thank you all for your replies. Its somewhat comforting to know that there are other people out there who have gone through the same thing. My mother flew out to NM last week and she just came back on sunday, it seems that he is on his way to recovery, although of course his life and the lives of his parents will definely be changed forever. T

his is soooo sad, he is just a baby. Anyway, I also believe in the power of prayer. I will keep praying for him and for all of you out there who are suffering from this disease.

Good luck to all.
Monica :hello:

 I hope that your 12 year old cousin is feeling a bit better soon, Lupus is a hard disease to get used to and I am 36, I have lost the amount of times I've been in hospital because of infections and other problems that are to do with Systemic lupus erythematosus, Iam also the mother of 2 boys aged 14 and 12 and I can think of how it would be very scarey and worrying for you all, your cousin sounds very brave and I hope will recover soon.Remember lupus effects us all differently, and also comes and goes throughout the year in flare ups. Your cousin will be able to enjoy life hopefully like the majority of SLE sufferers but take time to rest and recover.I have the most serious type of SLE also with kidney involvement.Try and avoid the sun this is a major factor in SLE flare ups.I get prescribed sunfactor from my doctor B)
