Hey all xxx

Hope everyone is doing well.

As the title of this topic suggests, I have been very newly diagnosed with lupus (2 days ago infact) and as of today I am 17 weeks pregnant with my first child.

I had no idea that I had lupus, it was found during some tests for mini strokes i had a few years ago but I've been on prednisolone for 9 years and apparently that has masked alot of the symptons.

Just a bit concerned about my baby really as this is all so new to me!

Have to have fragmin injections everyday for the rest of my pregnancy and have been warned that i could go into premature labour and that if i don't, they'll induce me early. I know that there's a strong possibility of my baby being smaller than usual but not really sure on what else could happen!!

Take care all

Hi Chantelle

I can relate to some of your situation. I was diagnosed with lupus when i was 10 weeks pregnant, and was kept under close watch during the rest of the pregnancy, but was lucky to get away with not having to have medication. Had to go for scans twice a week which became boring, and was induced on my due date but little one kept us waiting for 24 hours. This was 3 and a half years ago and the little one is not so little now and full of energy, have trouble keeping up with him. Ben was really healthy when born, they wanted to do a 12 lead ECG on him and even at 12 hours old he wasn't having any messing, so they gave up.
hope all goes well, at least the medics are going to keep a watch on you and the little one.

First told possible SLE at about 5wks preg, not sure as i never had flare and just labwork showed it. Had a fairly norm preg, with hlthy boy, I even have diabetes too. He is 10wks old and I have had my first flare started about 2wks ago, just put on meds-Plaquenil, I hope your preg goes well and since they know they can help it do so. Wish I was prepared for flare postpartum-keep that in mind.

Best of luck let me know if you need to talk to someone!
