Hi,

This is the first time I have used the forum, I was told by a haematologist at St Thomas's Hospital that he thought I had lupus, and referred me to the lupus centre, but when I went there the doctor implied that I didnt have it, it might be something similar.

I have fatigue, joint pain, muscle pain, anaemia etc, but the reason Im here today is that I have been told that the reason Im not falling pregnant is that I have very low progesterone (my level is 1 and it should be over 30!), and I was just wondering if anyone else had been told anything similar, and if it could be connected to all the other symptoms? I have been told I have some kind of auto-immune disorder where my body attacks itself, but no one can confirm whether or not it is lupus.

Thank you for listening

Helena

Hi Helena and welcome :flowers:

I read your other post about having a high prolactin level also, if this wasnt a one off and its still high then I think seeing a reproductive endocrine specialist is a very good place to start. They surely will uncover the reason for your low progesterone level and the elevated prolactin. Something is going on and since the abnormal test results point to endocrine disorder then its worth getting checked out thoroughly.

Ironically that's where they first sent me and I was later diagnosed with SLE. However my test results were not constant (the high prolactin) and other things started turning up that led them in the right direction.

Either way if you wish to start a family then an RE is also aware of medical conditions that can cause hormonal upset, both autoimmune and not autoimmune, so they at least will give you a starting point.

Good luck and let us know how you get along.

love
