Hi all,
My daughter is living with me here in Scotland. She came over from the USA last year. She was so ill from Fibromyalgia that I thought she would die before she could get her. (from the medications) Anyhow, she is still here and still ill and I think we should file for Social Security for her. i know she is eligible to file, and I don't think we have to file in her home state as we live here in Scotland but, I want to know, should we get an USA attorney now. As I have heard that you get disqualified on the first go as a matter of course.

Then.. my next question is... does anyone know a good lawyer??
Thanks
janet

Janet,

It is not advisable to get a lawyer until you have been denied twice. You can apply online so that makes it easy. I am not sure how you will handle the items that need to be signed, perhaps they will allow them to be notarized in Scotland.

Make sure you use her first day not working as her disability date. You can also ask questions via the website. http://www.socialsecurity.gov
