hi...have lived with lupus for many years but don't have rheumatologist due to rural area. Am very sick now and have no doctor.

live in Southern Illinois and will drive to St. Louis MO, Paducah KY, Evansville, IL, or other places in region. Need a doctor who understands full range of SLE symptoms and current treatment options. After 30 years, I just can't bear to see one more useless, expensive jerk whose knowledge of SLE is still based on decades-old med school texts, or one who views all women as being inherently stupid and/or neurotic.

I've been impressed by intelligence and openness of posts to the lupus site forums. Please. . . please help me if you know of a competent, responsive rheumatologist in St. Louis metro area, or western KY, or southern IN.

thank you all -- very much.

Its a bit of a drive for you but the University of Iowa has a great rheumatology clinic.

Another long shot, Nashville Tennessee has a great one. He has patients coming rom Ill now I believe. His name is Victor Byrd and he is with Heritage Medical Group

Don't know if that is too far away or not. I've been to several and have found the one I love. Even my mother likes him and she hates all doctors.
