Has anyone heard of Chinese Boading Balls? A lady at my work told me that they are great for relieving pain. She uses them for her back and her cousin has lupus and uses them for her pain. Just curious, they are only $8 she said, so I thought maybe I would try it.

Hi,
I have heard of them and know that they work like a massage does to relax the muscles. I have magnetic balls that I have hubby use on me on occasions. My hands hurt to much to use them myself.

I did a search on Google and found this site:
Chinese Boading Balls (http://megahealthonline.com/product_info.php?cPath=50&products_id=219&osCsid=b9b293b21c7c5409faef70530c10980d)
I might buy some and see if they help.

Ok...you will laugh at this, but it is what I have. I bought from the dollar store.....and had no clue why I bought it except it was just eye catching, so bought it.
Now, how exactly does this work, you just play with them? and roll in your hand? or rub on you? I am clueless

Paula, I have no clue! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif
I think that you roll them in your hands. I am going to order some and see. I think these come with instructions, but not too sure. It is worth a shot I guess!

Ha...we've a pair of those too. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif They're my hubby's actually. He had an accident involving his hand several years ago and was given the balls as an aid to his physical therapy after the surgeries. In his case, the idea was to roll them around in the palm in a continuous motion. They make a very pretty/relaxing sound when you do. It helped to retrain his movements and strengthened the muscles.

i had to look to see that they were what i tought.
I have seen these and even played with them some. I was told you just take them and hold them in one hand and use your fingers to move them one over the other in your hand.
This does a few things for you. 1.) It helps improve dexteraty in the hands and fingers.
2.) It helps build hand strength from the exercise.
3.) It helps to build and improve circulation in the fingers and hands because of the movement.
4.) It helps to relieve tension. It will amaze you how doing this can take all of your thoughts away from everything except for moveing these balls in this slow motion.
If there are other ways of using them I do not know of it but maybe they come with instructions for diferent ways to use them.
I can say this that even if they are not a miracle cure and do not do much more then exercise your hands the added benifit of taking your mind off of other things is a big pluss at times.
If you don't have these or can't find them then try a couple large ballbearings, two walnuts or about any other nut for that matter.

Hi again,
I will add one more point now that I am totally clear on them. In chinese medicine there are points in your hands that relate to parts of your body. For instance there is a point on the hand that relates to your intestines. So beyond relaxing and helping your hands theoretically you will aid other things in your body. They also feel good massaged into your lower back, neck, thighs as long as it is done lightly.
