Hello and welcome to the site.
I'm affraid the answer to your question is yes it is indeed possible to have both HIV and LUPUS. I read your post and put yes to begin with as I have done an HNC in social care and it incorpatated HIV/AIDS and anatomy and physiology. Just to make sure i wasnt just talking through a whole in my anatomy i checked and there are alot of articals on the subject. I just asked jeeves. So im affraid i'm not as smart as I sound :lol
Take care

Hi. I read in The Lupus Book that there are only 20 documented cases of someone who has lupus also having AIDS. Statistically, hundreds should have it. And, there are cases where Lupus causes false-positive HiV tests.
Hope that helps.

There is also an issue with some HIV symptoms resembling lupus symptoms plus a low positive ANA, such as joint pains
Some of the drugs used in treating AIDS/HIV can cause drug induced lupus even with anti ds DNA
( regarded as specific for lupus ) antibodies and kidney disease.
