Hi all style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
Both my doc and my physio suggested that I take Glucosamine to help with joint pain. I duly did but neither of them ever recommended an actual dose.
I asked my pharmacy assistant the other day and she suggested that I 'up' what I was taking to 1,500mg per day.
I've upped to that and I do feel less sore. Joints are moving with less pain and I don't ache so much. Mind ypo - I've also had my thyroid meds raised - so it might be that minimising pain but I don't think they've had time to work yet.
Just thought I'd share. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

My pain specialist suggested it too, but when I looked it up I found out it is shellfish shells, and I have an awful allergy to shellfish... an immediate violent nausea kind of allergy... does anyone else have this problem and use the glucosamine anyway? He seemed to think it was quite effective, and I'd like to try, but it's scarey, KNOWING I have a problem w/shellfish.
thanks,

Hi style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
I don't take it because of my allergy to shellfish also, but I have heard countless
times how well it works, especially with osteoarthritis, I don't know that it works
for Rheumatiod.
I did start taking it in a low dose but it made me sick, then I found out it was made
of shell fish, so I quit.
Take Care

Hi , yes I've heard countless benefits in the case of relieving pain from osteoarthritis, but thats different to the kind of arthritis we suffer? However if you get that along with your autoimmune problems then it could possibly be beneficial as long as you arent allergic to shellfish.

I have heard some very good things about it. My Mother Inlaw swares by it and says it is the biggest help she has found.
My wife took it for sometime and for awhile it helped alot but she stopped using it when she stopped feeling the benifits from it.
But she has multiple problems that all cause joint and bone pain so it may help in one area and not another as it seems has been suggested here.
What ever it is that is helping I'm glad to hear it is getting better and hope it all continues for you.
