Hi Everyone! I want to say that I am sorry I have not been to the boards in quite some time. I've been very ill and my head is quite a mess. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/aww.gif I miss you guys and hope to be back more regularly to catch up soon.

Refresher here - was assaulted by kid at school (I'm a teacher).

I found out yesterday my Worker's Comp was approved. It's funny that yesterday morning I emailed two of my congressmen about the situation. This simply couldn't be a coincidence. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif We have this one Congressman who is just awesome about helping people in situations like ours.

I was told I would be getting about $6000 backpay and I think $500/wk. My Cobra will cost less than $400/month which is good since my current med copays are about that amount, anyway. My Obudsman at WC filed a Bad Faith/Retaliation Claim about a month ago against the School District and their WC carrier which, if I win, will award me 25% more each week. I am planning to follow thru on that. I never did hire an attorney.

Yesterday I turned in my paperwork for the private LTD I was carrying. The WC should get me by until I see what is going to happen w/that.

Gotta get going to my shrink now.

With lots of love.

Julie

Hi, Julie! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif
Glad to hear that things are moving along in the right direction! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif I know it probably seems like it has taken ages for this to happen. It makes you mistrustful now and can color your work relationships in the future, as well.

I'm glad you have an ombudsman to assist you in this fight. That is someone who would be more knowledgeable and have YOUR interests at heart in helping you. It's especially important to have assistance when thinking is not up to par.

Thanks for the update!

Julie,

This is great news. glad you will be able to have cobra as well. It has saved us from financial ruin. My LTD reduced my monthly payment by the amount I was receiving on state disability ins (something that every state should have). I dont know what their rules are on WC income. Just so you know. But most of them still have a minimum monthly amount they pay no matter what your other income is.

Better that you haven't had to hire a lawyer all that money is yours.

Keep us up to date.

Karen

HI,

Great to see you back.. I'm so happy you are finally getting what you deserve as in money and all. The kid should have got expelled.. Don't remember what happened to him or the details.. So glad you won't have to worry about bills. I know that is a big relief to you.

Julie, I am so glad for you!! Congratulations. It looks like something is finally going right. I hope the action against the school district goes well, too, as that kind of thing needs to be stopped in its tracks.

Did anyone ever end up filing charges against the student?

My first-grade grandson took a pair of toy handcuffs to school to return them to a friend. He was told they were weapons... Sounds like he got in more trouble than your assailant (sp?).

I hope your Christmas is a little better because of your news. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/santa.gif
