Hi all,
My brother got me a Reiki Session for Christmas, and I was just wondering if anyone here has tried it and if so what was it like and did it help?
Thanks,

Hi Les.
I can only tell you that my sister was trained for this, but is not pursuing anymore, but when she was she would take the negative energy away from the person and put it into herself and it is suppose to relieve pain/stress, etc.
I had a painful neck/head, she warmed her hands by mind, don't know how she did this, but there were extremely warm and she placed her hands on my neck and forehead, and then she was sweatty and my pain was better. I can't explain but maybe it was all mental. I don't know, except her hands were very warm and she did sweat and I felt better. She doesn't do anymore, but I have heard that this is practiced in nursing homes too.
Hope that helps. Let us know if this has worked too

Hi Lesley
Reiki is a very soothing energy therapy. Its uses the Universal Energy that is in all living things, some people call it the Life Force others Energy from God or The Divine. There is no need for religion or belief, Reiki just is. Whatever name its given its got some wonderful deep effects. Warmth and peace is one of the benefits, its very relaxing and can have a profound effect on people.
I am scientific by nature, so I look deeply into anything including my Lupus!!! But I can say that Reiki Healing can help! The main thing it does imho is to relieve stress and leave a sense of calm and wellbeing.
I also use a lot of crystals and other complementary therapies. But its early days with me experimenting with the best ones for us.

Hello Lesley,
I had a lot of Reiki sessions when I was going through a difficult time mentally and physically, I found it very helpful indeed when it was given by a skilled practitioner. I was so impressed, I trained on the basic course myself and have used it on myself to help my own pain & discomfort. For me its good because it does not involve any massage or anything which will make my very sensitive body hurt even more.
The only thing I would say is that its important to feel at ease with the person who is doing it, it wouldnt do any harm if you dont, but it wouldnt do much good if you are not able to relax.
I hope you enjoy & benefit from your treatment.
Happy New Year to everyone

from the person and put it into herself ..
just a comment on this statement... this is incorrect .. that would be incredibly draining for the therapist
i do reiki but prefer to call it therapeutic touch...
the whole point is for the therapist to be a channel for the universal healing energy/ Life force .. to pass for themselves into the patient to cleanse and restore their bodies and to place the body in a state where it heals itself.. it rids it of it's negative energy this way..
It is also emotionally soothing.... hopefully he will enjoy the treatment..
i have just found that some of the therapists that do this can loss sight of what their role in this is... and try to become professional counsellors by trying to deal with the patients on a very emotional level.. this upsets me.. yes the therapist can pick up on the emotions that the patient is feeling and need to tell them.. but some seem to think they can tell them how to deal with it.. i don't believe this is the case.. sorry on a ramble here!!! i guess you could say that about anykind of body worker..
