While I'm glad that the rash of mouth sores around my teeth don't presage a root canal, I'm still dealing with a mouthful of sores. And they've spread. Now I have probably 20-30 small mouth sores on various gum surfaces. Oh the joys of this disease!
My dentist couldn't prescribe anything to "fix" the problem but suggested something that actually is comforting:
Mix Maloxx (or Mylanta or store brand of the white, chalky type anti-acid liquid) 50-50 with liquid Benedryl (diphenhydramine). Swish the mixture around the affected parts of your mouth for about 1minute. Spit
The taste isn't great, but not horrible either. The anti-acid sooths the whole area and neutralizes the acid AND keeps the diphenhydramine on the area long enough for the numbing effect to take hold. Not a bad feeling all together. It seems to last about 40 minutes or so if you don't drink or eat anything after.
Like I said, not a cure, but it does help douse that burning feeling and keep it comfortable for a bit. Respite is nice.
Good luck,
Sunny
