Havent poested in a while....I have LUPUS,APS and taking blood thinners....I think I might me pregant and not sure what step to take next....I go to the OBGYN on the 24th...Im worried about what the blood thinner might be doing to my fetus...If there is one....Im going to take a Home Pregeancy test later today...
I just a bit scared and my lupus doctor said to wait and see....I read that bloodthinners are bad for you and your child could be born with problmes....Major problems....Im living in Sweden where the health care is great but the docs are to laid back and I cant get into see anyone....They say I have to wait it out...But If I am pregant I dont want to harm my baby with Warfin....
Im sure Im fine...But I have all the signs of being pregant....
Any advice would be great?
I would love to have a child..Im 33 in a few weeks..But we really cant afford a baby...We just moved from the US to Sweden 9 months ago and money is super tight and we have just about used up our savings....I cant work because I dont speak Swedish well enough yet.....I do help out at a friends store and she pays me a little but not much...
Ok Im done with my vent...Must walk the dog before he gets his leash and walks himself....

If you are pregnant, then you need to change on to heparin injections right away. Are you able to buy a pg test from a pharmacy and do a pg test ? It is really important that you find out whether or not you are pregnant, and personally I would want to do that before taking another dose of warfarin. Why take even the smallest chance if you don't have to.
If your doctor doesn't seem concerned, then you need another doctor. APS pregnancies are high risk pregnancies, and they need to be monitored by someone who knows what they are doing.
I was on a drug when I was pg that is now not recommended to take during pg - I took it my entire pg as I was told it was safe, well they now know there is an increased incidence of cleft palate and spina bifida when it is used during pg. My daughter doesn't have either of those.
hth, and let us know how you get on

I'm so sorry to hear about this latest concern and very much hope the pregnancy test is negative.
I have taken a two X rated drugs when I could have got pregnant and found just taking them a great source of anxiety even with the extremely low risk of getting pregnant.
If it isn't, I would regard this as a medical emergency. It's not clear what your doctor meant by saying "wait and see ". He should have been giving you advice about what to do if you are pregnant.
If you are, surely you can be seen as a matter of urgency for medical advice and counselling about your options which might include termination.
Please take the greatest care

OK I just took a Pregnancy Test and it was negtive...Im relieved but sad...I so want a child..I just want to do it right..from the beginning...
If anything changes I will post...as for my doctor....Its weird how things work here in Sweden....You have to wait and wait and then wait somemore....The lupus Doctor I have is great....I just think he thought I was concerned before I should be...Im only a few days late....But I have all the systoms of being pregant...Maybe its my mind playing trick on me...I dont know...
Thanks for all your advice...
Maggie

Maggie, I see you tested negative but I just wanted to add. I am on Warfarin for 7 years now. I was advised by both my obgyn and Rheumy when all was good with my lupus I needed to be on injections of Lovenox ( different form of heprin) even while trying to get pregnant.
So I think it's very important to be off the warfarin before even thinking of getting pg.
All that being said I have had two beautiful and healthy daughters. Good luck in the future.

Dear Magwheels,
Hi! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/flowers.gif
Just a quickie.... A positive pregnancy test is almost always right, but someties a negative test is just falsely neegative. If you continue to 'feel' pregnant and don't get a normal period soon, do another test and if it isn't positive but you still suspect pregnancy, go back to your doc.
Trust your gut instinct on this one....
Good luck,

I will be honest and say that Im having a hard time living here in Sweden...I really miss the united states...I miss being independent..I hate not working. And I hate living paycheck to paycheck...Just the whole starting over stuff...Im too old to start over...Im 33 and I feel like Im living like I did in my 20's...I love my husband very much...Im struggling with learning the lauange and just the whole swedish way of life....I know that your living in a new country to...so you can relate to this whole thing...Plus Ive been so stressed out that Im flaring with my lupus...I was doing great the past few months even lost 10 pound....now Ive gained it back and I just want to go home...My husband is some what understanding but it cost us about 6,000 dollars to move here and 9 months later I want to go home.I just dont know what to do...Yesterday I wanted to just pack my bags and go home to my mom...today I just dread going to swedish school and sit there not understand anything...The swedish program is just asking to much of me....Ive only been in school for 5 months and they expect perfect swedish spoken....I mean come on...Plus with the Lupus everything seems to be harder...I have told the teachers about the ilness and they know that Im haing a hard time but Im just tired of the whole thing...Sorry I just need to vent a bit...
Thanks again,
Maggie

Dear Maggie,
Yes, I can identify with what you are saying!!!!!!! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/aww.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/faint.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hissy1.gif
Learning a new language is tough, especially one no-one else speaks (swedish and dutch eg)
Living without a job and money is frustrating, depressing and saps your self esteem
Being away from your own culture and friends/family is lonely and hard work
Living with the uncertainty of wanting children but knowing it is high risk is wrenching and gets worse every year (I'm 33 too)
Living with lupus just #$%^'s
Just one of these challenges is enough, but we have to deal with all of them all the time. I want to quit pretty often too style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hugbetter.gif
And then to make it more difficult, how do you tell if the derpession is a lupus symptom or a perfectly reasonable reaction?
And how on earth do we keep up with the other students?
UGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH (that's me having a tantrum for both of us)
I moaned so much to my fiance yesterday that he's coming home early to me today.
So, I'm sending you a style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/clover.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/flowers.gif ,
and may you get some time on style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cloud9.gif ....
