Hi,

Yes, I have been part of a group that meets once a week for over a year now. It has helped with balance problems and muscle strength. Besides all those benefits, I have another group to love.

I intend to try it when I am back in the UK for good, because I have heard nothing but good about it. It is often mentioned on the major sites as a very suitable activity for people with lupus for physical and spiritual well being.

Good Luck with it style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

We had an excellent teacher but he can't fit us into hius timetable anymore. If you are trying to do it by yourself from a DVD notice that it is very important that you are very exact in following the movements. Each turn and position of every body part counts. Good luck with it. I would love to have the name of the DVD.

hello,

tai chi's great.

i found it a little hard. but that's ok, you do what u can right?

there's also Qi Gong, Chi Kung (same thing different ways of spelling it).

i taught this for 5 yrs. its a soft, ancient, chinese martial art. tai chi is categorized like this as well. qi gong is actually a little easier to do. its older than tai chi. it is used as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China for health.

either way, you will meet new friends. and will feel better. its fun.

Hi lulu

I have been trying to do the dvd that was bought for me but ,please dont laugh, I can't seem to get my head round the fact that I have to do it the opposite way to them on the screen ( there left would be my right).
My son found it very funny sitting watching me doing it . After a few days I started to get the hang of it a bit, then the dvd started to stick ,I get so far then it freezes. At first I didn't realize until I lost my balance now I can't play it at all,on the look out for a new one. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/umm.gif

hi sue

u'r definitely not alone. seen it with lots of my students. it happens more when looking at the tv. in a class , you have the teacher voice to guide you or mirrors to look at.

i found it took most in my classes if they were practicing 1 wk, approx 6 classses to get that "muscle memory" to kick in.

the neat thing about soft chinese martial arts... is that its a discipline. u get the hang of it, see benefits, then u sorta plateau because it is repetitive. that's the key. you deepen the practice as time goes by due to this repetition.

enjoy!!!
