Before I started the online application, I had called the SS office here for help. They just called back today.
OMG, I so wish the lady who called me could be the person who decided my case! She was SO understanding! After I told her my chief diagnoses, she said that she has tendonitis in her shoulder and talked about how painful it is, how some days she can't go to work, and how simple tasks become difficult.
Then she said, "I just have tendonitis in one shoulder; I can't even imagine how difficult it must be for you and I can understand completely why you can't work!" She said that these are the diseases people can't see and that folks don't understand how you can look OK on the outside and be in so much pain.
She told me what to bring to the appointment and said "Now, don't forget to have info on all of your medications and how they interact with each other, especially about how you can't be under the effects of the medications in the workplace." GOOD POINT!
I told her that I started the application online but was having great difficulty with it because of my memory and concentration issues. She said they can continue the app. and verify the info -- the application date will then be the date I started it.
I have the records from my rheumy; I'm going to get the records from my GP, the Night Clinic and my cardiologist to have everything when I go in on Feb. 6. That should speed it up. She said it will take 4-5 months for me to hear from Austin.
This call gave me a bit of hope and reminded me that they are just people, after all. LOL, I'm praying that the person who gets my case has had some sort of illness that makes her empathetic, just as this woman was!
