Before I started the online application, I had called the SS office here for help. They just called back today.

OMG, I so wish the lady who called me could be the person who decided my case! She was SO understanding! After I told her my chief diagnoses, she said that she has tendonitis in her shoulder and talked about how painful it is, how some days she can't go to work, and how simple tasks become difficult.

Then she said, "I just have tendonitis in one shoulder; I can't even imagine how difficult it must be for you and I can understand completely why you can't work!" She said that these are the diseases people can't see and that folks don't understand how you can look OK on the outside and be in so much pain.

She told me what to bring to the appointment and said "Now, don't forget to have info on all of your medications and how they interact with each other, especially about how you can't be under the effects of the medications in the workplace." GOOD POINT!

I told her that I started the application online but was having great difficulty with it because of my memory and concentration issues. She said they can continue the app. and verify the info -- the application date will then be the date I started it.

I have the records from my rheumy; I'm going to get the records from my GP, the Night Clinic and my cardiologist to have everything when I go in on Feb. 6. That should speed it up. She said it will take 4-5 months for me to hear from Austin.

This call gave me a bit of hope and reminded me that they are just people, after all. LOL, I'm praying that the person who gets my case has had some sort of illness that makes her empathetic, just as this woman was!

i was told to gather all the doctor info. Turned out they did not use it at all. They wanted it straight from the docs. Don't hold up your claim by waiting on docs. I beleive they have 30 day (little rusty) here. get together what wyou can and apply. You are only in the initial applications phase. Ever day you wait is more time before you will receive disability.

I would still get the info. That way when the paper work that is really a pain to fill out you will have infront of you. Once you are assigned an adjunct. Make contact, ask if you can call them to see if records are coming in. Offer your help in getting them in. Don't make your self a pain. Make nice with them.

This is how it is run in NJ. Maybe texas is different. I just don't want you to delay anything.

Best of luck

Thanks, Tammy! I'm glad they're going to fill it all out for me. I'm so afraid of answering something incorrectly and not doing something right. This will make sure that doesn't happen! And if I get someone sympathetic, that can only help!

Elaine, they told me to bring the records, so I will. Besides that, I can't remember dates and such so I'm going to need the info to help me answer the questions.

I'm pleased that my appointment is a week from Monday. That will get the application done faster than I could do it on my own!

It is wonderful that you don't have to go through the process I did.

Just make sure you have a copy of all records you give them.

I don't know how it works when they help you fill out forms but I would try to get a copy.

I hope that the nice lady you spoke to will be the one helping you with the forms.
